• The wind coming off of the dragon wings caused the wind to chill and freeze as it hit the soldiers. Their metal armor frosted over instantly, causing the soldiers to shiver in the frosted armor. The dragon smiled in a dragon way, showing all his ebony, white, dagger-point teeth. The soldiers shivered at the sight of his teeth, scared at the thought of finding their end between his jaws. The dragon growled and turned his attention to the mounted leader approaching. The dragon shook his big, light, sapphire blue body as the rider nodded to the soldiers and bowed deeply to the dragon. The man dismounted from his horse, who shied away from the dragon as he extended his neck to blow warm air on the mounted man. The man sighed in relief at being so close to the dragon's warm, soft underbelly.
"Hello Saradis," the dragon stated plainly to the man. "I believe I scare your pathetic soldiers. They will never stand up in a war against Fire and Ice Dragons. We Ice Dragons are far nicer than our fiery cousins. If they are scared of me, I can't wait to see them react to their first Fire Dragon." Saradis looked up at the Ice Dragon prince. His kingly father had insisted his too young son fight in the war of Fire and Ice Dragons. Saradis found the dragon's sense of humor quite cruel and unhumorous.
"I don't know Talon," Saradis replied. "They are stronger than they look. My men are brave, but you seem intent on scaring them out of the armor. That is not their fault." Talon looked at Saradis with cool acceptance and regard. Saradis shook his head at the Ice Prince. "How soon do you think it will be before we see and fighting with the Fire Dragons? My men are eager for combat."
"We may see Fire Dragons tomorrow or the next day," Talon replied. He looked over the men again, who were completely content with the dragon's presence, and nodded his head slightly, as if saying they were ready. "If they can stand up to Fire Dragons, then I'll make sure we are in the center of the war. If they are ready, the Fire Dragons will not know what hit them."
"Do you hear that?!" Saradis turned to face his men and shouted at them. "We'll see these pathetic Fire Dragons within two days! We'll send these cowards back to their mountains homes of soot and ash!" The men raised their arms, swords, spears and shields in a group cheer. The men look joyful and excited about the upcoming fight. Saradis turned to face Talon with a cocky smile on his face. "See," he said, "I told you they could be strong." Talon scoffed as if he disagreed but did not carry on the argument.
"The Fire Dragons are not like us Ice Dragons," Talon said leisurely, stretching his neck around to scratch it on a tree. "Instead of freezing to death, which is painful enough, you'll burn to death, which is more painful. I pity you humans for feeling hot and cold. We dragons, both Fire ad Ice, feel nothing." Finished with his scratching, he returned his head to its original position and yawned, as if tired of talking to humans, which he was. "You humans should get some sleep. I will watch so all can sleep the full night. Now, douse your fires. You will have no need of them whilst I watch over you." The men hastily did as he said, knowing he would not offer it again. Talon grunted in approval as he watched the men scurry about his feet. It seemed he had a small dragon smile on his scaly face. If there was, it quickly vanished. Saradis looked at his dragon fighting comrade. It seemed this dragon would never cease to amaze him and Saradis was not sure he wanted the big blue dragon to change at all.
