• Vanya laid stretched out on the couch, basking in the sun. Her fur shining in the light.
She stretched and got up to go look out the window and gazed into the yard.
“I wonder what it’s like out there,” She purred to herself as she imagined running through the grass and catching all the birds she lay eyes on.
Vanya had been an inside cat all her life, just for once, she wanted to be outside. She decided that she must get out. Watching the birds play in the yard, she thought of a plan.
“Okay, so I’ll wait by the door for my person to get home,” she thought to herself, “then dash out the door when no one is looking,”
She went over the plan again in her head, nodding to herself, “Yes that’s a purrfect plan, I’ll do it!”
Vanya got into place beside the door, her tail twitching with excitement. It wouldn’t be long before she was out of this house and free to do as she pleased.
Time passed slowly as she waited and she began to get annoyed.
“How much longer?!” she sneered to herself with a flick of her tail.Just then a low rumble came from outside. That had to be her!
Vanya got back into the ready position to spring. The handle on the door jiggled, this was it! The door opened slowly and Vanya dashed outside.
The fresh air, and the cool grass against her paws was heaven. She looked around, her heart racing. All the sights and sounds were almost too exciting.
She walked forward a ways, then her paw hit something rough. Vanya looked down. She seemed to be standing on what looked like gray pebbles stuck together.
“Vanya! Come back!” a screech came from the house.
“Nope, this is way too fun,” she thought with a smile, and raced forward off the strange surface and into some more grass. She kept going, suddenly the ground felt smooth.
“This feels a lot better on my paws then that strange pebbly ground,” She mewed to the ground starring in amazement at it’s smooth, dark surface.
The ground started to shake, Vanya looked up. A giant thing was rolling towards her at an unimaginable speed.
A loud noise came from the monstrous object, and a scream from the house. Vanya leapt back towards the grass and ran into the house, not looking back.
“Vanya, my poor baby!” Her person picked her up, and cradled her as she closed the door.
“Let’s not do that again, okay?”
Vanya gave a mew of agreement, “At least not for a while,” She thought.
