• My name is Yayoi Musagi. I am a ninja, and I am also a demon hunter. But I am not here to tell you a tale about myself. This is the tale of the only demon I couldn’t bring myself to kill.
I live in a land called Dragonfire. The legend of this land is that one day, the battle goddess Cavalo and the dragon god, Valu, came down to this realm. The world was almost overrun by uncaring demons, which were slowly destroying the land. Desperate to save the land, Cavalo and Valu combined their powers to create creatures called the Kratistro, holy being that were to drive the demons back into the demonic realm. The few pure demons were allowed to stay. Since Cavalo and Valu returned to the heavens when they knew the land was safe, some of the Kratistro and demons wedded and gave birth to the subspecies called demonistro. The population of demonistro was very small to start with, and they almost disappeared from the world when humans appeared. The Kratistro preferred to be wed humans; since they were they appeared to have similar body structures.
The demonistro are not dangerous creatures, but they can be if their demonic side overpowers their Kratistro half. I am here to tell you a story of someone I knew who was in fact that kind of demonistro. His name was Faust Takanatsu. He was an honorable man when I knew him. He always worked hard, even when he was a child.
When Faust’s demonic half awakened, he lost everything. I have not seen him since the day he disappeared.
Here is the tale of Faust Takanatsu, the only demon I couldn’t kill, and the only love I could never have.
