    Chapter #2:
    A Star is Born

My ears couldn't believe it. A single star will save all 7 clans from the darkness in the their hearts!?! Is that even possible to cleanse someone if there tainted with wounds, to deep to heal? And not just one clan either. But to all the 7 clans in Shinnoh! This 'star,' who ever it is, must be very powerful to do something as pure as to erase the darkness in pokemon's hearts. I would give anything to have a power like that in palms of my paws. Blizzardprint seemed think exactly the same thing.
"Do you know who the 'star' is?"
Frostbite shook his head, looking back at Blizzardprint. "No. Not yet. But I'm positive Star Clan will tell me in the future."
"The sooner the better." Breezetail murmered.
"Ah, but Breezetail. Good things happens to those who wait 'till the time comes. That is one important detail of a leader."
Blizzardprint slowly rose to his paws. "Sadly, I don't think I'll have the patients to wait for the answer. This is too important to wait around; I'm sure even you know this too. The prophecy quotes that, 'A single star will rise from the shadows'. Does that mean the 'star' ,itself, will ignor the Warrior Code in it's quest that might not even work?"
    "...He does have a point."
I never thought about that. Another rule in the Warrior Code states that 'one cannot cross rival clan's territory unless on the nights of a full moon', or clan gatherings. And that 'no warrior nor rookie can set paws in different clans unless they're connected by blood'. When all the clans travals to the fourth lake in Shinnoh. For one night, under a sacret truce that forbid fighting, the clans will come togetheir in peace. To gossip, and share important news. An event I wish to participate myself in soon.
"Even I don't know. But you must have faith in our warrior ancestors."
"I'm not saying that I don't!" Blizzardprint hotly defended. "I'm just ...worried...that's all."
Frostbite pointed his muzzle up at the sky. "It smells like rain is coming."
A cool, damp wind swept in the chamber. The scent of rain in the breeze. It was probaly going to rain sometime during the night.
"I'll ask a rookie to cover up the sky'light." Breezetail offered.
    "I apprecate it."
Blizzardprint and Breezetail slowly started padding out of the den. I quietly pulled my head out from the curtains and stalked towards the abandoned prey. Gently gripping the Surskit with my teeth. A light scent hit my nose and felt fur brushed my pelt. Breezetail dipped her head in greeting and padded out the den.
" Is that for Frosbite?" Blizzardprint's breath was hot on my neck. Startled, I twisted my head to see him proudly standing behind me. After awhile, I nodded." A few moments ago you were just apprenticed and now, you're already doing rookie duties without having to be told. You'll make a fine warrior on day."
Taken aback by the complement, I bowed under his watchful gaze, making it more noble then ever. But my body was quivering with excitment. The clan leader complemented me! What an honor! After Blizzardprint noded curtly, he exited the nursery. And I padded to Frostbite's medicine chamber while the Surskit's limbs draged limply along the ground.

After I finished sharing the Swablu with Articphase, we both padded into the rookie's den. The first thing that caught my eye was the space. This crystal den was at least three times bigger than nursery! But the nests didn't look as soft as the cotton nests back in the nursery. These nests were layed with moss. And it certainly didn't feel confortable as I layed in the it. Artic layed in the nest next the mine.
"I know it's not as nice as the nest in the nursery, but when you start training then you'll be grateful for it." Artic conforted. Snowphase was already sleeping on the other side of the den. There was no doubt that Snowphase was disappointed.
I licked his face and curled up in a ball and drifted to sleep.

"Congragulations!" Wild toppled me over me, wagging his tail uncontrolably. I could see the pride and love surged through his eyes in the twilight. "Your already on path on becoming a warrior! That's wonderful."
"It is." Hawk padded out of the shadow of a tilted tree. "What ever is the matter Crowfoodphase? You seem to have something on your mind." Wild immediantly backed off and swung his head at Hawk. "Now what's the matter with you?!"
"Don't ever call her that! Ever!!" I rolled on my belly; shocked to see Wild snap so suddenly. "You know as well as I do that..."
    "...She dosen't deserve the name."
    Hawk finished.
"I already know that. I don't need you reminding me." "You act as if you don't care at all."
"Did you two know about the prophecy?" I was eager to end the arguement and get straight to the point.
    "What prophecy?" My heart lurked.
"The prophecy Frostbite fortold when that cloud covered over the moon, and only a single star shone in the darkness." Both Wild and Hawk looked bewildered. " 'A single star will rise shadows and save the 7 clans from the darkness lurking in their hearts.' " I recited.
"Maybe they have but, I don't think Star Clan will share something so important with us. After all, we are still pups." Hawk reasoned. "And if they did send that prophecy then, it's possible some other clans noticed it too, right?"
    "Maybe."
"What dose the prophecy mean by the darkness lurking the the clans hearts?" Even though Wild had calmed down, he was still obviously upset with Hawk. Wild glared at him while skirting around Hawk and sat down next to me. "Does that mean the darkness can be slowly eating away at the clan as we speak? And who is this 'star' whose suppose to save us from this darkness?"
"I don't know." I admitted. "I just overheard Frostbite, Breezetail, and Blizzardprint talking about it in the Healer's chamber. So I'm not sure myself." There was a long silence.
"Well, what are we doing just sitting around here for?" Hawk scratched the back of his ear with his hind leg. He then stood on his paws. "Let's go find out!" He then ran off into the shadows of the trees and disappeared.
"That stupid furball!" Hawk shot up on all fours. "Dose he expect to run into camp and find the answers waiting for him in a pile of fresh-kill?!?" Looking back at me, Hawk rapidly replied. "I'm sorry we have to leave so suddenly. I hope you can forgive us. But remember, we'll always be with you." Then scampered off until, he too, vanished into the shadows. I was alone. I willingly rested my head on my paws and waited for me to awake.
I never noticed how unnaturally quiet it was in this part of Sliveridge. There was no Swablu's peeping in the branches. No light breezes ruzzling the leaves the trees above. Nothing stirred here. It was as if something had scared the life away. There was only the indigo sky, the stars, and the snow that glistened pale in the cresent moon's light. It's so still here that even my breathing seemed loud.
" Heh heh heh heh heh."
The strange laughter rang into the clearing. "Wild? Hawk?" I looked around."Was that you?"
"Fresh meat." The voice was deep and rough. Not like Wild and Hawk.
    "W-what?"
"I smell...fresh meat!" A glow as red as a blood emanated from the shadows.
A hazy darkness engulfed the trees like a forest fire. I shivered ran down my back in the sudden coldness that seeped into my fur. The glow took it to time approaching me. Every thought in my head told me to turn tail and run, but my leg wouldn't listen. The light was now a few tail lenths away from me.
"Heh heh heh. Are you afraid of dark?"
I was now shaking uncontroably. What did this thing want from me? "A-a-are you going to eat me...?"
There was a brief silence until he replied. "No, not yet. I'll let you scrum in the darkness like the bug you are!"
The glow suddenly vanish, and the ground gave away beneath my paws. I flailed in all direction, but there was nothing my paws could get a hold off. I felt like I was falling in a bottomless abyss. Then freezing spikes peirce through my fur, sending an icy chill up my paws. Instinctly, I paddled to keep my head afloat. My pelt was being soaked to the bone, and every paddle became increasing harder in the raging currents.
    "Water!?" I gurgled, padding ferocisly.
I was swallowing what seemed like the entire ocean. Then something gripped my hind paw and dragged me under. My lungs were screaming for air, but the surface seemed farther away. I was steadily drowning into the darkness. Is this how going to be the end? I shivered in the chilly black water. Engulfed in enternal darkness and shadows without so much as a fight!?
Fury flared in my belly. I twisted my head agianst the currents and bit down hard on whatever grab ahold on my paw. I'm not going to die! An ear splitting cry echoed throughout the water. Not like this!
All of a sudden a bright light emited. The thing that had a death grip, released me and fled somewhere. The light was intense, automatically blinding me. Blinking my eyes to adjust to the light, I realize the darkness was fading away in little specs of energy. Floating up towards the sky at a rapid pace. I suddenly felt air filling my lungs freely. The white snow slowly appeared in sight. My heart fluttered when my paws crunched in the cool snow. The light faded from sight as I awoke to a sunny morning.
Articphase was sleeping soundly in his nest. I shook myself, still feeling icy shock the black water still soaked in my pelt. That was scary dream! I licked my paw to wash my face. I thought I waouldn't see dawn again! But...I stopped washing. What was that light about? And who was that creature in the dark? My eyes fell on to my paw and I stared in astonishment. Because placed at the palm of my paw was a white star.
