• Kikaru Christine, 16, quiet and shy, street smart...academically, not so much. Kikaru was raised in Tokyo, Japan with Tensiki Aganawa, her best friend. After her parents died Tensiki was all she had left. Although Tensiki's parents were gone most of the time on buisness, she learned how to take care of the house and herself on her own. Kikaru has picked up some of the chores Tensiki does to pay for her boarding, although Tensiki thinks its not needed. Tensiki and Kikaru have been through rough times together but they always found a way out of them.

One night, home alone, the two best friends were having a girls' night eating icecream and watching chick flicks. When suddenly the lights flickered off and the girls were engulfed in pitch black. Kikaru screamed and cuddled next to her best friend. She was the only one who knew of Kikaru's insane fear of the dark. Tensiki gently hugged Kikaru and promised her everything was going to be fine and that she was going to the basement to turn the lights back on. Through her tears, Kikaru protested, begging her to stay but Tensiki reasoned with her to just wait a few minutes, that she'd be right back. Thats just what she did. She took deep breaths, got up and paced and counted to 10. Then, from out of the blue, a burly hand came up and grabbed her from behind. It pulled her on the floor and crawled on top of her. It screamed for money and jewels, all while shoving cold metal into her neck. Kikaru knew it was a gun and tried to fight it off, screaming and hitting. The lights flickered on and Tensiki's face ran through her mind and foot steps echoed through her ears. She yelled for her to go away, to run and call the police. The footsteps came faster and Tensiki came running into to Den with a knife. All in one second, the weight was lifted off of her, she heard the peircing yell of the intruder, and the shot of a gun.

Kikaru ran over to her. Her eyes blurred, making it hard for her to see. Tensiki looked up at Kikaru and smiled. Kikaru's heart was hurting now. How could she be smiling when she knew she was dieing? Tensiki took Kikaru's hand and held it to her face. She's so cold, Kikaru thought. "I love you, Kikaru...you may not know it but your strong...your the best friend I'll remember forever..." Kikaru was shivering, she couldn't be dead...she shook the corpse of her best friend yelling for her to wake up, that she promised everything would be ok...

That month Kikaru moved to Ouran, more or less against her will, with her grandmother. Kikaru always loved her grandmother, but her stuck-up attitude always came at the wrong time. She paid Kikaru's way into Ouran's Private High School. It taught some of the world's top elite leaders, and it was the only school her grandmother approved of...
