“Ayumi, you must have cheated somehow!” I yelled as I threw my controller on the floor. “What are you talking about, that was a perfectly legitimate combo.” She said as she ran her hand through her long black hair. “Well I never heard of it, and I own the damn game!” I continued to protest. She just shook her head. “I demand a rematch.” I said as I picked up my controller. “All right.” She sighed. We ended up playing all day, and I didn’t even win once.

“Wow, it’s already this late, you should probably head home.” I said to Ayumi as I pointed at the clock. “You’re probably right. I’ll see you tomorrow, ok.” She smiled as she walked out the door. I looked down at my battered controller. “My pride as a gamer is ruined. I lost to a first timer not once, but 57 times.” I said to myself. I shook my head and flopped down on my bed. I picked up one of my mangas and began to read. Shortly thereafter, I fell into a deep sleep.

I heard a loud bang and immediately jolted upright. “Was that a gunshot?” I asked myself. Curiosity got the better of me and I threw on my shoes and ran out the door. I ran down my street a ways and saw a suspicious group of people standing in front of Ayumi’s house. “Let me go!” I heard Ayumi yell. “Hehehe, the boss is gonna’ be pleased with this one, eh boys?” I heard one of them say. I felt anger building up inside of me. I felt my blood start to boil. I clenched my fists and entered the fray.

I threw a hard right to the face of the guy who was dragging Ayumi, and he fell to the ground unconscious. “Who the hell are you?” one of them yelled. “Who am I? I don’t feel obligated to tell scumbags like you.” I said as I cracked my knuckles. “Kill him!” another one yelled. “Don’t worry Ayumi, everything will be okay, I promise.” I whispered to her. I threw a hard right to the face of a guy in front of me, followed up by an elbow to the face of a guy behind me. I saw one of them draw a pistol, and I kicked it out of his hand before he could fire it, then I kicked him in the face. They all started to back away. “What’s wrong, not so tough anymore are ya?” I yelled as I flipped them the bird. “Tch, this is the biggest embarrassment in the history of the Manriana Family. We’re retreating for now!” their leader yelled, and in a moment, they were gone.

“Thank you Daniel.” Ayumi said to me with a smile on her face. I said nothing. “Daniel, what’s wrong?” she asked in a concerned voice. “They couldn’t be, but when I think about it, it all makes sense. What the hell is the mafia doing here?” I asked myself. ‘The only thing I can do right now is try to keep Ayumi out of harms way. They will most likely come after her again, but next time, I’ll be ready.’ I thought to myself as I looked up at the stars.
