• It was dark and gloomy and there were strange noises coming from all directions around me – left, right and center. It was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. Even if I placed my hand in front of my eyes I couldn't see anything. I closed my eyes but all I could see was darkness that was darker than the night sky with no stars. I was hoping that this was all just a bad nightmare and that I would wake up from the dream when I opened my eyes again. I opened my eyes only to see that where I was wasn't a just a bad dream but it was where I was, in darkness all alone with no idea where I was. I saw two bright glowing red eyes suddenly appear in front of me and felt a sharp jolt go down the back of my spine. I felt dizzy and felt my body lean itself forward. I felt someone catch me, making sure I didn't fall to the ground. I looked up, again, all I saw was darkness. I couldn't tell who it was that caught me from falling. I started to hear the sound of music come from out of nowhere and I stood up only to realize that I was sitting up straight in my bed in my bedroom.

I looked around my room and flopped back down on my nice warm soft bed. I knew that dark and scary place wasn't real. It was only a dream. A dark horrible dream that I would soon forget.

I closed my eyes and listened to the music that was coming from my alarm clock. Wait a minute. Music? I reopened my eyes and looked at my alarm clock that was beside my bed. I probably wasn't paying attention last night when I was setting the alarm for today and set the wrong time. It was eight am and school started in half an hour.

I realized what time it was and quickly jumped out of my bed and stopped the alarm so the music wouldn't play all day. I quickly got changed into my school uniform and started to quickly to brush my hair. It was all knotty and my hairbrush kept getting caught in my hair. My hair was eventually straighted out and was looking ten times better then it was before when I first woke up.

I changed out my sheep pajamas and put on my school uniform. I gathered my text books for my classes and put them in my backpack. I swung my backpack over my shoulder and walked quickly out of my bedroom door. As I was heading down the stairs I looked at my family photos of me, mum and dad and in some our dog appeared in the background.

I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a red apple from the fruit bowl that was always over flowing with fruit. I didn't have enough time to cook up some toast or prepare some cereal for breakfast so fruit was the quickest available option for me. I looked at the time and took a bite out of the red apple and headed for the front door. I closed the door behind me and locked it to make sure that no one could get inside.

I power walked my way down to the local train station and put my apple core in a bin as I passed one. I got my ticket and showed the ticket man who was standing there on the other side of the entry gate wearing his uniform with pride. He allowed me to pass and gave me a nice warm smile as I walked past him to enter the train station. I gave him one in return and started to head towards the right platform. It was crowded usually, but it was the same people, all pretty much in the same place as they were yesterday and and the day before. As I was heading towards the end of the station I saw a group of people, three girls and four guys all standing together in a circle talking loudly to each other until one of them saw me approaching and came running up to me.

“Summer! I was afraid you weren't going to miss the train and be late for school!” It was my best friend Kayla from my home room class at school. She had long straight shiny black hair with a long fringe and wore a white headband. “Sorry Kayla but I must have set the timer for my alarm clock wrong last night and I over-slept. Funny how things like that happen.” I replied with a smile on my face. “Yeah, it is funny how they always show the first episode of a new television show with the main character being late for something. It's like they can't come up with something different and exciting.” Said Kayla. “Can you do me a favor though Kayla?” I asked. “Sure anything you want. Even if it's food I could buy you something from the vending machine over there.” Said Kayla. She always had plenty of money on her. “N-No it's not that.” I said, trying to gasp for air. “Well then? What is it?” Asked Kayla, looking at me in the eyes. “Can ya let go of me? I'm having trouble breathing......” I said with a tinge of sarcasm in my voice. Kayla suddenly realized what she was doing and let go of me. “Oh, I'm sorry Summer. I didn't even realize that I was hugging you that hard.” said Kayla. “He he..It's alright. so long at you don't squeeze me to death I'll be fine.” I replied as we started to walk towards the other members of the circle. “I wouldn't do that, I suppose I just missed you over the school holidays.” Laughed Kayla. “Well then maybe you could've called me.” I answered. “I'm sorry. Our phone line was down and we only got it back this morning. Oh, and the bad news is.” Kayla paused for a moment and looked at me with puppy dog eyes. It looked like she was about to cry. “My mobile phone I got for Christmas decided to break on the weekend! And now, I can't get a new mobile phone until next weekend! It's a total disaster!” Kayla put her arms around my waist and hugged me gently. She started to cry and I patted her gently on the head. “There there, it's not that bad. At least you have a mobile phone, unlike me who has to wait until I'm seventeen to get one.” I said trying to cheer her up. “Correction. DID have a mobile phone. I kind of feel sorry for you. I mean how many people in our home room class doesn't have a mobile phone.” Kayla stopped crying and wiped her eyes with a slightly damp face washer and put in the bin. “Only one. Me.” I sighed as I finished my sentence. “Well, you're not alone on that one now. I'm going to correct you again. There's two people now who don't have a mobile phone.”

“Don't include your self in this one. You having no phone is only temporary so it doesn't really count you know.” I pointed out. “That's true.” said Kayla. “Besides, your allowed to use the home phone aren't you?” I asked with curiosity.

The train pulled up at the station and most of the people hopped on board including everyone from the circle of people that I joined in. Inside the train it was almost empty. Only a few people were sitting and there was only about two other people who decided to stand. I stood in the usual place by the door so it was easy to get off the train in case the carriage became over crowded. A boy from the circle stood next to me and Kayla stood on my other side. I realized who it was and I said good morning to him. It was Oliver from our home room class from school. I knew a lot of people from my home room class and amazingly in every one of my classes there was always one person from my home room class in it. “Morning.” Said Oliver. “I see you only just made the train this morning. Lady Luck must be on your side today. What did you do this morning? Over-sleep?” Asked Oliver. His name matched his face. He had short dark chocolate brown hair with Olive tanned skin. I often wondered if his parents called him Oliver because of his Olive brown skin. But it was still a myth to me and someday I would ask him about that, but not right now. “Yes it would appear that Lady Luck is on my side today.” I said to Oliver.“I wish Lady Luck was on my side! I can't survive much longer with out my phone!” Kayla grabbed me by the arm and looked at me. “Summer?” Asked Kayla with those puppy dog eyes again. “Do you think Lady Luck will ever forgive me and give me back my luck?” Asked Kayla. I paused for a minute and tried to come up with a good enough answer for the question.“I'm sure Lady Luck will give you back your Luck soon.” I said, trying to cheer her up.“So did you sleep in?” Asked Oliver again. “Oh, yeah. I set my alarm for the wrong time and woke up late. I only had time to eat an apple for breakfast.” I said. “Oh! You only got to eat an apple for breakfast this morning!? That's sad. You should at least eat three square meals a day. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. With snacks in between might I add.”

Kayla loved to eat snacks and sweets. When ever there was a special cheap sale on at the donut store that was just about a five minute walk down the road from our school, she would be the first one to know about and get the benefits from it.

    “Right......” said Oliver.

“What was that about food? Did you want to offer me some as a free gift? What!? You do want to give me some food!? Oh how very nice of you!” interrupted Ethan. He was another member of my home room class who was standing next to Oliver. He mostly hung out with Oliver and his other mates who caught a different train to us. “No, I don't want to give you some of my food, you can get some your self you vulture.” Replied Oliver. “That was very nice of you.” said Ethan. “What was?” asked Oliver. “Hmm...never mind, it was nothing.” said Ethan. Ethan had shoulder length straight blondish brown hair and had his right ear pierced. Ethan noticed that Kayla was staring straight at him. “What are you starring at?” asked Ethan. “Oh! I wasn't starring, only looking” said Kayla. “Looking at what then?” asked Ethan. “Your ear piece. I only just noticed it now.” said Kayla. “You only just noticed it now? I've had this babe for a long time and you've only just discovered it now?” said Ethan. “Yeah. I don't really pay attention to small things like that.” said Kayla. Which was true. One day I wore this shinning new Sapphire necklace pendent to school and she didn't even recognize it or say anything about it. “Don't you get in trouble for it at school though?” asked Kayla. “Nope. I take it out during class time and put it back in during lunch time and when school finishes so the hole doesn't cover up.” Explained Ethan. “Maybe you should get yours done as well.” suggested Ethan. “No way! I don't want a hole in my ear! And besides, doesn't getting your ear pierced hurt?”asked Kayla. “Nope. Not for me it didn't.” said Ethan.

Kayla looked at my ears and I wondered if she had something in mind that she wanted to ask me or if I had anything on my ears that wasn't supposed to be there. “So Summer? When are you getting your ears pierced?” asked Kayla out of the blue. “Get my ears pierced? I'm not doing that. I don't like to wear earrings, they'll get caught in my hair.” I said. My hair was long, straight and in the sunlight it looked like that it had gold streaks in it. But it didn't it was natural hair color. Golden brown. “Well then, well just have to shave it all off now won't we? Then they won't get caught in your hair and then you won't have any excuses not to get them done .” suggested Kayla. “No thank you. I like my hair just the way is. And if you even think about shaving off my hair then look out Missy!” Kayla took a small step backwards. I suppose she was a tiny bit scarred of me with the evil look that I was giving her. Well, at least I gave her a warning.

The train stopped at the third train station and more people cam aboard. It was getting more crowded now but I didn't mind. We where getting off at the next stop anyway. An old man had to stand in the middle isle in between the seats and had a walking stick with him to help keep balance. He looked to be around eighty nine or so. I felt sorry for him because he was so old and had to stand on such a busy train. That's when I noticed a young short girl decided to stand up and offered him her seat. The man shook her hand and took the offer with out hesitation and sat down on the seat.

I recognized the girl who stood up from my home room class as well. Although, I for some reason I kept getting her name and some other girl's name who was in my home room class mixed up. Probably because they sounded so similar. It was either Isabel or Isabella. I wasn't quit sure. But this one had the longest hair in my home room class. It went down to her knees and it was pure blond. I wondered if she had trouble brushing it in the morning with it being so long and all.

“Don't we have sports class this afternoon or is it tomorrow? I hope it's today because the weather channel said it was going to rain tomorrow.” said Kayla to break the sudden silence between us. “You actually watch those channels?” asked Ethan. “No I don't normally but my mum had the news on last night and I was eating dinner when the weather came on. I normally try and have dinner after the news so I don't get board listening to those news reporters talk about all the stories that are news worthy. There's never really anything exciting on the news any way. It's just the same old thing, a store's been robed, a pervert is on the loose around the park or something like that and who won the local sports marathon. There's never anything exciting on.”stated Kayla. “Right, any way, we don't have sports until tomorrow.” said Ethan.

We never watched the news at home. No one was home at the same time when the news was home. I never watch the news at home. I always found something to keep me occupied. I would either go window shopping, read a vampire novel, do my homework or I would be at tennis practice.

“Awww..... I was hoping it would be today” Kayla sighed. “Why? Do you like playing sports?” asked Ethan. “Not particularly. I just wasn't sure when we had sports today or tomorrow so I brought my sports uniform with me today and now my school bag is even heavier then it normally is.” Said Kayla.

The only sports that enjoyed playing was tennis and that was all.

The train came to a stop at the next station and me, Kayla, Ethan and all the other people who where in that circle at the first train station hoped off the train, trying trying to avoid bumping into the other people who where boarding the train.

This particular train station was extremely busy in the mornings and in the afternoons. It was the second train station before the city and most people in this town worked either near the city or in the city itself. Me and Kayla both held hands together making sure that we didn't get separated in the massive crowed of people at the trains station. We both made it to the escalator that lead to the surface but we had lost Ethan and the others along the way.

“Well, at least we made it this far. It's not normally this busy in the mornings. I wonder what's going on in the city today.” Said Kayla as she was looking at all the different people around us. In front of us where a couple of school kids from a different school in the same area as ours and behind us where some business people talking on there mobile phones. Kayla noticed them speaking on their mobile phones and started to make those puppy dog eyes again only this time she was starring straight at the business man with the mobile phone in his hand. The business man noticed this and started to act strangely around us. He would either check to see if the mobile had enough power to last him or he would turn the other way. When he turned around every time he would see Kayla's puppy dog eyes and turn back the other way. We Eventually got to the top of the Escalator and walked into a massive shopping mall district. I pulled Kayla away from the man when we reached the top. I hit her gently over the back of the head and told her that she needed to get over the loss of her phone. If she was that desperate to use a phone, then she should use a pay phone. She told me she wouldn't waste her money on such things when they didn't give back her change. As a matter of fact, I've never seen her use a pay phone before. It was always a friends mobile phone or her mobile phone. She even used it in class to send a text message to one of her friends and she got it confiscated by the teacher for one day. I remember having to follow her around all day to make sure she didn't go too over ball with her begging skills. Some how she managed to get it back with in the first ten minutes of lunch time.

“Did you want to stop at ' Donuts delight” on the way to school?” asked Kayla as we walked pass the store. I looked at the store only to see a large line up. even though the line up was long it was still moving pretty quickly. I looked at my watch and saw that we still had plenty of time to make it to school. “OK, but only a quick one.” I said. “Yay! thank you! I PROMISE I WON'T BE LONG!” yelled Kayla as she excitedly jumped and down and then bolted off. If anything where to get Kayla motivated, Donuts would do the trick.

I found a less crowded spot to wait and lent a gain a shop wall. Kayla was right. There where more people her then usual. I saw some kids in the crowd of people and I noticed it was my friend from tennis club. I looked over at Donuts delight and noticed that Kayla still hadn't been served yet and there where still about five or six people in front of her. I walked over to where I had seen the girl from my tennis club but noticed she wasn't there any more. I sighed and looked around for her but she was no where to be found. As I was looking for her I noticed that one of my favorite shops had a new store sign above the entrance. I wondered how long that had been there for. I visited the store on the weekend and it was the old one. I figured they only put It up yesterday. That's when I saw him. A strange looking young boy all dressed in black with long dark hair was sitting on one of the store letters. I gasped in amazement and wondered how the hell did he get up there. I looked around and noticed that I was the only one who had noticed him up their. I looked back up to make sure he was still alright but noticed that he had vanished into thin air, just like magic.

I was confused and some how I managed to convince my self it was all just an illusion and headed over to where I was before. That's when I felt a hand grab my left shoulder and I turned around scarred only to find that Kayla was standing right behind me with a big brown bag with Donuts Delights logo on it. I was surprised on how thick it was. “Wow! How many donuts did you get!?” I asked Kayla. “Seven, two caramel, three strawberry and cream and two jam donuts. You want one?” asked Kayla as she pulled out a large caramel donut from the bag and took a bite out of it. “No thanks, I only like the plain type.”“Oh, right sorry I forgot that you where the boring type.” said Kayla as she was munching on her donut. “Well excuse me for being the cheap type.” I said in return. “I suppose your excused then.” said Kayla as she took another bite out of her donut.

“Let's go now.” said Kayla and I agreed with her.

We started to walk into the crowed and I turned around back at my favorite store and noticed that the boy wasn't there any more. I sighed and told my self in my mind that it was only my imagination and turned around to see where I was going.
