• LaRae Donavue woke to a startling crash.

Her world was quickly thrown into disarray. She heard screaming coming from all directions of the house, and was so startled she couldn't even move. She just lay there in bed, hearing all sorts of unimaginable chaos erupting around her. When things died down, she was snapped out of her trance and raced out into the hallway to her parents' bedroom.
What she discovered would scar her for the rest of her life. Her parents, once sleeping in their comfy serta mattress, were now limp and lifeless. They had been drained of all of their blood, most of which was now splattered across the room.
She was an only child, which meant that her whole world was gone. The only people she had to look up to, the ones who supported her and took care of her for all 15 years of her life. And now, everything was in shatters.
But worst of all, hanging there, above her loving and dear parents' corpses, were killers. Murderers. She could find no better word for them at the time. They quickly snapped their heads in her direction, where she stood frozen at the doorway. Their eyes were an odd array of unnatural colors, ranging from red to bright orange to a silvery moonlight color. But behind every set of strange eyes was the same gleam, the gleam of a predator. There had to be atleast 7 of them, but only 6 were bloodied and snarling.
The 7th one appeared to be a teenage boy, only a few years older than her. He looked at her with a grim set face, although his eyes showed of concern and sympathy. He had dark hair and a perfectly chiseled face, with noticeable muscles taking the shape of his shirt. He was gorgeous. He had the presence of something other-worldly, a beauty and grace that no human man could master. And he was staring at her as if he had seen the light, or found his reason to live.
It was looking into his eyes that she had uncovered who they were; vampires. And they had killed her parents. With a shocking realization, she knew she would be next.
