• “AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!”

The scream rang out in the silent night. Sara found him, a man, lying facedown in a dark alley, lying in a pool of his own blood with a knife sticking out of his back. It was enough to scare anyone. She pulled out her phone and dialed the emergency number for the police. She would be asked many, many questions later and the police would investigate for a few weeks. But they would be unable to solve this crime. Just like the other deaths in the past months.

“Mom, I’m going out!” Gabrielle walked out the door without looking back at her parents. She checked her pockets for her cash, keys and credit cards, making sure she didn’t forget anything. She was headed to her favorite club again where she would meet her friends. They were famous in Four Walls as party girls: beautiful, rich and vacuous. But unlike her friends, Gabrielle was not at all unintelligent. In fact, she used her beauty and intelligence as tools to get her way.

A line greeted Gabrielle as she turned the corner to Club Saw. Sneering at the people in line, she walked up to the bouncer and smiled. “Hey Hal,” she greeted him sweetly. Hal the bouncer smiled back at her and immediately let her through. “Hey Gab,” he said. “Nice outfit. Girls are inside already.” Gabrielle smiled and nodded and waved at the people who were still waiting in line. They were grumbling and complaining now, whining about her skipping the line.

Her friends greeted her as she walked in the club. She could feel the stares of the people around her. She tossed her hair in an arrogant gesture that made it clear that she thought she was better and more beautiful than them. She was blissfully unaware that a pair of eyes followed her every move and continued to follow her later that evening as she went home.

“See ‘ya guys,” Gabrielle waved goodbye to her friends. They were being stupid, as usual, and it annoyed her. They were the reason people thought she was dense. She walked out of the club and wrapped her arms around herself. It was colder now and she didn’t bring a coat. Walking quickly down the street and ignoring her surroundings, she failed to notice the man who was following her.

The man followed her into a dark alley with a hungry look in his eyes. “Excuse me, Miss?” he called out to her softly. Gabrielle was startled and scared and she ignored the man. The man smiled a chilling smile and ran forward to block his prey. Gabrielle gasped as the man appeared before her. She backed away from him slowly.

“Don’t go,” the man said, almost seductively. “I only want to talk to you, beautiful.” Gabrielle heard the man’s soothing voice and was just about to walk back up to him when she came to her senses. She shook her head fearfully. “Please don’t hurt me,” she pleaded. She backed up a few more steps. “Please…” She backed up more and with one last look back, started running as fast as she could in her high heels.

She heard his footsteps as he started running. He was growling softly as he stalked her. Gabrielle cried out in fright as he grabbed her arms. She closed her eyes and groaned in pain as she felt pressure on her neck. Her knees gave out and she put her hands in front of her to cushion her fall. She looked up and saw for the very first time, the black eyes of the man as he smiled chillingly down at her.
