• CHAPTER 112 - HOUSE

It's just a simple game of house, right? Nothing goes wrong when you're playing house, right?

It was when my hand slid off of the couch that I jerked myself awake and found myself lying on top of the couch rather than Kai. When I glanced over, I didn't see who I had expected to see. It was probably my mind playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn Kira was hovering over me.

"Rise and shine, sleeping beauty!" Kira exclaimed.

"What the Hell?" I groaned and rubbed my eye. "Where's Kai?"

    "Getting your kid," Kira smiled.

    "I don't have a kid," I frowned.

Kira frowned as well, "You mean you and Kai haven't done it yet?"

I buried my face in the couch cushion, "That's Ai!"

"Oh, that's the kid's name," Kira huffed. "Kai wasn't telling me anything about her."

"That's because we weren't expecting you to arrive so abruptly! We weren't ready to tell anybody!"

"Nice to see you too," Kira frowned at me.

"Kira, did you wake her?" Kai complained while walking out of the bedroom with Ai next to him.

"My beauty is so astounding that it even wakes the dead," Kira rolled his eyes.

I slapped Kira's chest as soon as I hopped off of the couch, numbing my hand. Kira messed up my hair--not that it wasn't messed up to start with--and he kept cheering "'morning after' hair!". I'd have done anything to be able to kill him on the spot; if only I had the guts to pull out the gun. I adjusted my robe and Ai trotted over and clung onto my robe.

"Would you mind explaining a little more?" Kira asked halfway politely. "Is this your kid or not?"

"She's a Vampire; of course not!" I freaked out on him. "She's six years old; Kai and I have only known each other for ten months!"

"Sounds logical," Kira rubbed his chin with his thumb and his index finger, pretending to be intelligent. "Go on."

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

It took about forty-five minutes to an hour to explain everything to Kira. Why? After nearly every sentence, he would crack out a perverted joke about Kai and I. Of course, my paternal instincts kicked in and I hit Kira with one of the fireplace tools, taking out my rage, and lecturing him that Ai wasn't of appropriate age to hear that.

"Okay, mother," Kai laughed. "Calm down."

I blushed at the fact that Kai actually called me a mother; he was probably joking about it anyways. I was probably nothing more than a babysitter for Ai, not a replacement mother. After realizing it was twilight, I hopped off of the couch and darted into the kitchen to make a nice meal for everybody. I was feeling courteous enough to make Kira a portion of the meal as well, despite he was being an a**.

"I'm probably lucky I can't read minds, right, Kai?" Kira spoke to Kai, speaking loudly on purpose for me to hear.

"Yeah; she's not being to nice to you in her head right now." Kai chuckled.

    "Oh, naughty," Kira chuckled.

I forced myself to ignore Kira's crude and perverted jokes and called Ai over so she could help me...and so she could get away from Kira. As Kai and Kira were catching up, I continued to interrogate Ai.

"So can you teleport yet?" I asked. "Or read minds?"

Ai shrugged, "I've teleported a few times but not very well. And I can't read minds yet."

"Maybe Kai could train you," I suggested with a smile.

"Awesome," Ai smiled and helped toss some ingredients into the recipe.

I worked unbelievably hard, preparing yudofu for myself, ramen with vegetables for Ai--as always--and domburi with meat toppings for the brothers. As a side, I managed to squeeze in time to make tsukemono pickles. It seemed as though dinner was the only time Kira would ever keep his mouth shut for about half the time he normally would; how typical of guys. When dinner was pretty much over, Ai tugged on my pants--that I changed into while dinner was cooking--with concern on her face.

"Nana, I'm thirsty," she bit her lip.

"Kai?" I asked nervously while ruffling Ai's hair around. "She's dehydrated."

There was a pause and Kai stood up from the breakfast bar, "Come here, Ai," he said after he had already picked up Ai.

Kai sat back down on the stool and sat Ai on his lap. Ai seemed to have caught on because she fastened her infinitesimal fangs into Kai's neck. I flinched at the sight of such a young, precious girl having to feast off of blood like that. Kai didn't look too disturbed, seeing as he had seen worse. Chills crept up my back at the sound of blood traveling down Ai's frail throat as she continued to drink more. I felt guilty for not giving her any blood for a week but Kai was right in saying it was better I don't give her blood; it really would be bad for her to become addicted at such a young age.

"Oh crap, I've got work!" I freaked out after reading the time. "Kira, would you like to come along?"

"Would I ever?!" Kira exclaimed. "Free food!"

I glanced over at Kai while Ai was still attached to his neck, "How much longer will you be?"

"Just a little bit. Go ahead and start your car."

Right when I had grabbed my keys that were hanging up by the front door, Kira snatched them from my hands and he teleported out of the house. I stood dumbfounded until Kira teleported back inside with a grin on his face.

    "Nice car!"

"Whatever; go wait in the back seat." I slapped his shoulder and laughed.

Kira laughed and disappeared from my sight and I approached Kai and Ai while they were finishing up. Ai wiped her mouth off and hopped off of Kai's lap and scurried over to me, clinging onto my pants as she always does. I checked her hands and her mouth to be sure the blood was completely cleaned off and Kai dabbed the blood off of his neck with a washcloth. As soon as Kai was finished, we headed out to the car and Ai hopped in back with Kira, unfortunately; Kai had overheard him double role playing as Kai and I doing...things. a*****e.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

"I'll be nice and give you free food since you're Kai's brother," I frowned at Kira while handing the trio a plate of gyudon. "I can't do this often so you all better enjoy it."

"Thank Ryu for us," Kai wrapped his arm around my waist and pat my side while he was referring to the cook.

"Nana, your uniform is so pretty!" Ai exclaimed and bounced in her seat.

I gave Kai a kiss on the lips and Ai a kiss on the head and I gave Kira an evil glare. He only sighed and smiled in defeat. After another couple of hours--and thanking Ryu--I was finally off my shift and left out the side door. From around the corner of the restaurant, I could hear Kai and Kira conversing and Ai's giggles.

I felt a slight sting on my arm after a gust of wind rushed past me and I rubbed my fingers on my arm, only to end up seeing blood smeared on them. I glanced around but nobody was near. I took one more step towards my destination and I was pushed back against the wall with somebody towering over me with one of her hands on one side of my head on the wall. The midnight black hair and glowing red eyes hinted that it was a Vampire but it wasn't a normal Vampire; it was Hitoshi.

"Delicious," he smirked and licked my blood off of his talons.

    "Kai!" I shouted.

I ducked under Hitoshi's arm and took off towards the end of the alley but Hitoshi caught me by my arm and spun me around. I continuously hit Hitoshi's arm and struggled to be free as Mayura dramatically approached close to me with her gun in hand. Just as she pressed the barrel against my forehead, Hitoshi was pushed forward and I was pulled back and held against Kira.

"Am I correct when I say you're Mayura?" Kai hissed, standing close in front of her.

"Yes. And you're also correct when you say you caught me trying to kill your girlfriend." she smirked.

"If you lay one finger on her--"

"Already did," Mayura giggled. "Her throat is incredibly fragile."

Kai's fingers twitched a couple of times and he breathed deeply; I was surprised he was so angry already, seeing as it was his first time meeting Mayura. And, of course, he would be even angrier after seeing Mayura holding a gun up to my head.

"Why would you kill her?" Kai hissed.

"For protecting that scum of a child," Mayura's smile dissipated. "And I assume you are too."

"Of course I am; she's just a child."

"In any case, I won't kill you quite yet; you're too gorgeous at the moment. I will, however, still want to kill your girlfriend, seeing as she was rotten enough to injure me."

"Ai?" I glanced around as Kira still held me with my back against his torso. "Ai, where are you?"

"I'm here, Nana," she pulled on my pants again. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I responded. "Stand behind Kira; I don't want Mayura to see you." although I was sure Mayura already saw her.

As soon as I glanced over at Mayura and Hitoshi, Mayura had whipped her hand up quickly with her gun in hand. A crack echoed through the alley and a scathing pain sheared through my chest.
