• Staying in the shadows of the alleys, I watched as Fujita made her way back to her house. The smell of her blood reached my nose, making me almost jump out and attack her. I took several deep breaths to calm down. It was hard not to attack her when she was so close. As I followed her silently, watching her, I listened as sounds of steps came from the other direction.

“Hey doll face. Want to come with us?” I took a glance at the source of the voice and saw a group of guys, about three or four, surrounding Fujita. A growl escaped my throat as I watched the scene unfold.

“I’m just trying to get home. Please let me go.” Fujita’s voice said.

“Come on now. Don’t be like that doll face. We just want to have some fun.”

It was going too far. I stepped out from my hiding place and said, “She said please.”

“Rez!” Fujita said with a surprised look as I seemingly stepped out of no where.

“What makes you think you can order us around?” Said the leader of the group.

“I wasn’t ordering you, I was telling you. But now I’m ordering.” I said, my anger boiling inside.

“You’re not the boss of us!” Another one shouted as he ran forward.

Reflexes kicking in, I punched him in stomach as he approached. Taking the open spot, I brought a kick around and hit him in his head, knocking him out cold. I looked up at the other guys who were shaking in their shoes. “Leave. Now.” I said with an angry tone of voice.

When the others ran away, I sighed, calming the anger that had nearly boiled over. “Thank you!” Fujita’s voice said beside me. I looked up to see her smiling face.

    “Your welcome.”

“You know, I could have handled them myself.”

“Says the girl who can’t learn not to take back alleys.”

“Hey! I could’ve have so taken them on!”

“No you couldn’t have. Admit it.”

“Fine then. I take that back. No thank you!” Fujita said, turning around and stomping away.

I chuckled a bit and followed her as she stormed down the alley way.

    “Why are you following me?”

    “To keep you safe.”

    “I don’t need protection.”

    “You sure about that?”

    “Shut up!”

I smiled and followed a good three feet behind her. I was afraid to get to close, in case the smell overwhelmed me.

    “Okay! We’re here! Now bye!”

“Okay. Good night, don’t let the bed bugs bite.”

    “I’m not a little kid!”

    “You sure about that?”

“Yes! I’m sure, now go away!” Fujita said, pushing me away.

“Okay, okay. Good night. See you tomorrow.” I said before walking away, leaving a fuming Fujita out on the streets. Once I was out of sight, I jumped up onto a roof top and jumped from roof to roof until I reached a building with a high area.

The cool night air relaxed me as I sat atop the high roof, thinking. “I can’t hold out much longer. The more I’m around her, the more I want to bite her.” I said to myself, feeling my fangs poking out. “How much longer?” I asked myself, looking up at the half moon. “My thirst becomes more and more uncontrollable.”

I sighed as I walked to school with my back pack slung over one shoulder and my umbrella in one hand. The clouds had decided that it was going to rain today, so they had made it rain rather hard. I looked around. Normally more people would be out, but since it was raining so hard, so one dared to come out, unless they went to school.

I turned around as I heard a splash and saw Fujita lying in a puddle of water. “Klutz.” I said, going over to help her up.

“I was trying to escape the rain.”

    “By running?”

    “I slipped!”

“Are you sure it wasn’t your own clumsiness?”

    “Hey!”

I chuckled and held the umbrella over her. “Come on. No use getting your clothes even more wet.”

“What about you?” She asked with a slightly worried tone.

“I’m fine.” I said, giving her a thumbs up.

“Thanks. For today and right now.”

    “No problem.”

    “How did you—“

“I happened to be passing by.” I interrupted her.

    “Oh, well, thanks.”

“Will you stop saying thanks? It’s getting annoying.”

    “Sorry!”

I sighed, taking a deep breath. “No, I’m sorry. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately. Hey, you think you could meet me at the park after school?”

“Yeah.” She said, curiosity lining her face.

    “Thanks.”

Sitting on the bench, I sighed, my head in my hands. "What am I going to tell her? What have I gotten myself into?" I asked myself as I thought about what I had asked Fujita this morning.

"What did want to talk to me about?" Fujita's voice broke though my thoughts. "Is something wrong Rez?"

"No....yes....I don't know. Just sit please." I said in exaperated voice.

Fujita gave me a strange look and sat down near me on the bench. "Your acting weird."

"I know. I just know how to say this. Do you believe in those creatures of the night?"

"You mean like vampires, werwolves, and demons? Yeah, I guess. Why?"

"What would you do if you met one?"

"Depends on the creature. Vampires would be awesome to meet. So would werewolves, only, not on full moons. And demons, I wouldn't really want to meet."

I couldn't help but smile when I heard her reaction on vampires. "What would you do if you knew one but just didn't know it."

    "Rez, are you saying...."

"Fujita.......I can't resist your blood much longer. I just want you to know in case I do attack you, I love you."

I watched as Fujita's eyes got watery and tears spilled down her cheeks. "I love you too." She said, huging me.

Images of bloody scenes flashed through my head when she got to close. I felt tears beginning to well up in my eyes. "What will you do if I attack and kill you?"

"You won't." Was her blunt answer.

    "But I've biten and kill--"

"I trust you. I've had a crush on you since you've arrived. I know you. You won't. And, if you really needed my blood, I would give it to you." She said calmly, looking up at my face.

I smiled, ignoring the tears running down my face. I sat up her up next to me and wrapped one arm around her waist. "Thank you." Was all I said before I leaned in and kissed her.
