• As we walked over to Mike's friends he bumped into me once and the same burning-like affect happened to us, but that little "bump" pretty much destroyed what ever little balance I had, and made me start to fall. He reacted quickly and grabbed my arm again but didn't let go when it burned because I would have landed on the ground, probably breaking something of mine in the process.
"Are you OK?" he asked me, worry coming from his mind. I also felt another wave of jealously, bigger then before as he wrapped his arm around my waist to help me up, the burn, like an open flame I finally put together, seeping through my shirt.
"Yea, I'm not the most balanced person on the face of the planet," I giggled, nervous reaction.
He smirked at me, I wasn't sure if it was because of my giggle or my clumsyness because he kept that hidden from me behind that wall. And for the first time in my life, I tried to read his thoughts. Zip, zero, nada. I got nothing from behind that wall. I'd have to ask him to tell me how to do that.
Maybe if you ask nicely, I heard from his thoughts.
Pretty please? I pulled up an image of a girl batting her eyelashes and pouting.
He chuckled. OK, OK. Just have two conditions. One, you have to never show me that picture again. Two, it will have to be at my house, he chuckled again as he read my reaction. I've never been to a boys house, other then Jamie's.
We were at his table in no time at all. There were two girls and two guys. They were sitting in pairs. They matched in hair color, one were blonds and the other blacks. And, as a put this thought behind my poorly constructed wall, Mike and I were brunettes. Can you say awkward?
"Cassy, meet Kelsey," the blond girl nodded looking me over, no smile, "Cyndi," the black girl waved and smiled, very welcoming, "Jack," the black guy flashed me a big smile, "and Nate," the blond guy ever so slightly smiled and flicked his fingers up in a greeting, "guys this is Cassy."
"Hi," I said quietly, smiling and waving my hand a bit.
"Here sit down!" Cyndi said, patting the seat next to her. On her other side was Jack, they were holding hands. It made me feel strangely lonely.
I sat and put my books on the table, sort of like a barrier, and looked at everyone in the eyes. Cyndi's were a really pretty electric blue color, Jack's were gray but seemed to be the type of gray eyes that changed colors depending on the day. Kelsey's were a dark brown but had a small ring of sea green around the pupil, so a hazel-ish brown, and Nate's were hazel through and through.
I looked back at Cyndi and her face froze in place, "Ohmygoodness," she said suddenly, scaring the crap out of me. "you have the prettiest blue eyes I have ever seen! Wait a second! Is there some green in there?"
I smiled shyly. "Yea, its really a sea-green-blue color, not deep sea-green-blue but... well you know what I mean." And she did. I could tell in her eyes and thoughts. She was pretty much an open book.
"Hey want to hang out at my place this weekend? We could have a small party of just us. Though the guys would have to leave, girls only sleep over!" Yes, Cyndi was defiantly all bubbles and sunshine.
"Uh, sure, I'd have to check with my parents but..." I trailed off.
"OK OK! So what do you say guys?"
"Do we really have to leave early?" Jack said poking Cyndi in her side.
Cyndi giggled, "You know what my parents are like. Of course you have to leave early."
I laughed along with everyone else. It seemed like I might be able to get through this school, one day at a time.
