• Dr. Doc's Journal Entry #10
    March 5th, 2010

tab I had listened to everything Jenna had to tell me with intent. And by the end, I still can't think of a single word to describe how utterly angry and betrayed I felt.
tab "Justin, will you help me?" It felt like the hundreth time she asked that, and you'd think I'd answer with the same reply. But something inside me stirred, and told me I couldn't go on like this. I couldn't pretend I couldn't do anything about it anymore. I had to take action.
tab I curled my fists into a ball, and then agressively proceeded to bash at the door. I felt no pain. I felt no hurt. My knuckles didn't bruise, didn't bleed. But I wanted them to. I wanted them to so bad.
tab "Why? Why, why, why, why, why?!" I puched harder. I dented the door, but I couldn't stop. Like, or because I was, a machine, I pounded it in constant rhythm. Over and over again...
tab "Why...why...why..." I ruptured a small hole into the steel plate. I grabbed the outer rim of it, and pulled, slowly tearing through the hard metal boundary.
tab Finally, I had made a hole big enough for me to crawl through. My false skin had began to rip away, and underneath it lied the less please interior. My "bones", or more so, a metal frame. No matter how human I looked, no matter how human I acted, it reminded me that it was all a farce. It wasn't real. So what of Mr. Powers hollow threat? He could turn the switch on me, but it wouldn't matter. Because I wasn't real. I couldn't feel.
tab But at the same time, I reminded myself that he could. If I could wrap my hands around his neck and just squeeze, he would feel it.
tab I looked up at Jenna, breathing hard, and said softly,
tab "I'm going to kill him. I'm going to kill that son-of-a-b***h."

tab Jenna led me out of the large, vacant house. As we dashed past the old table at the Discussion Room, I remembered what I used to think of Mr. Powers. The accumilated dust on the table...The empty rooms...I thought he was lonely. I thought that was why he made us. I thought that was why he made me.
tab Those pitying thoughts about him were long gone now. All I could feel was resentment towards him now. For tricking me...For putting my only friends in the world through all that...All for his own gain.
tab After a couple minutes of running, Jenna finally stopped near a barbed wire fence. There I saw him.
tab Steven. Or Tyler, as Jenna called him. I could only imagine what was on the other side, but Tyler seemed to want more than that. I watched in awe and silence as he attempted to climb the fence, to cut the fence, to do whatever possible to get to the other side.
tab It was getting late and dark, and Jenna and I were ducked behind a couple of bushes, so even though we saw him, he was not aware of us. I leaped up, and began towards him.
tab "All right, I'm going to help--" Jenna suddenly grabbed my arm as I was in mid-sentence.
tab "No, don't." I couldn't believe my ears. What was she holding me back for? Wasn't she the one who brought me here? Wasn't she the one who asked me to do this?"
    tab "Why not?"
tab "I know Mr. Powers is coming. If you go out and help him, you'll blow our cover."
tab "He won't know you're here."
tab "He'll suspect me for letting you loose."
tab "Why'd you even bring me down here if..." Suddenly, there was a booming voice.
tab "And just what are you doing here, #2?" Tyler jumped, and turned around, scrambling to his feet.
tab "You don't have to pretend any more. I know my real name now. It's Tyler Joseph Woods." I felt like something needed to be done. But when I looked at Jenna, she was shaking her head. She was scared, I could tell. But it begged the question, once again, why did she bring me in the first place?
tab Mr. Powers didn't respond to what Tyler said. He just stood there, and readied something from his pocket.
tab "I remember...I remember everything now. Two people...Fighting...It was...It was you and my dad. You two were fighting..." No answer, so he went on,
tab "You were fighting over me! And my...my sister. #3...Jenna was her name. You were going to take us...And I...I...
tab "I wanted to stop you two from hurting each other. Rashly, I threw myself into the brawl...And then...I was clubbed in the head. You hit me in the head, and I was knocked out! That's why I lost my memory. That's why you took advantage of me!" It was dark, but I could see him scowl as he outspread his arms.
tab "And now...I bet you're going to kill me because I know. I bet you're going to kill me now before I can tell anyone else. You don't want me to cross the fence, do you? You don't want anyone to know what a useless coward you really are?" Silence. So, the monologue continued.
tab "That's right...You have a family. You wouldn't want them to know about all the evil acts you've done, would you?" Mr. Powers...had a family?
tab "So, go ahead, shoot. I know you hid a gun in your pocket. I know you were planning to kill me, right from the start. So do it." Still no answer.
tab "Are you deaf? I told you to shoot me. Do it." When there was still no answer, he shouted louder and more agressively,
tab "Do it!" Suddenly, I burst up, ignoring Jenna's soft pleas.
tab "Don't!" I cried, leaping forward towards them. Tyler looked in my direction, and said, a small smile creeping up his face, just bright enough to be seen in the dark,
tab "Justin...Yes, I remember. We had fun, now, didn't we?" In the next moment, I heard the sound I didn't want to hear. Two gun shots, and Tyler collapsing to the ground, not with so much as a grunt, but instead with an unsatisfying "clump" sound as he hit the ground.
    tab Tyler was dead.
