• It began with strange dreams. Then those dreams turned into nightmares. I fell weak to the dark shadows that taunted me. Sleep no longer became a luxury. Anxiety followed me everywhere. My head was clouded with fear. My senses were alert, searching for nonexistent danger. My heart thumped constantly for no reason at all. At the end of the day, I longed to hind under my covers and remain there with the comfort of Snickers, my loyal cat. Snickers felt my fear and protected me from faceless enemies.
It was 6:30 at night. Pots and pans clanked together as my mom made dinner. I listened to her hum, a sound that use to sooth me. I tried not the look out my window. Instead, I looked at the silver bracelet laying lifelessly on my desk. I was tempted to touch it, only to remember the consequences I suffered from it. It was a Christmas gift from mi abuela before she died. Tears threated to fall out of my brown eyes. No one could under stand my misery. Not since that night. My eyes stinged with tears. I refused to let mi mami hear my sobs. I slightly slipped out of my bed . I threw on my Converse and made my way to the back door.
    "Teresa, where are you going"
    "Just outside"
    "It's getting dark"
    "I'm be back mami"
    "Be careful, hija"
Outside in our small back yard, I lifted my head up. The full moon hid behind a small cloud.
    Oh no.....
