• Annette walked down the stairs, rather quickly, to get breakfast. All this talk about her having to have etiquette came in one ear and out the other for her. She made herself her own recipe of sandwhich, with jam and melted cheese. She wharfed it down, before her parents saw her, then looked at the time. 5:45. Good. She still had time to brush out her bedhead and put it into a neat and precise bun. Quickly, she yanked out the tangles and fixed up her hair. Her maid, Marie, rapped on the door and shouted, " Your parents are going out of the city for a week." Annette grinned. When her parents were gone, Marie taught her wicked fighting skills. Marie refused to tell her why she needed the skill, but it was ok with Annette because it was fun. They sat in silence, both on the other sides of the door, until they heard the door open, then close, signaling her parents were gone. Annette opened the door and looked into the grinning face of Marie. They scurried off, down to the ginormous backyard, then deep into the hedge maze. Marie gave Annette a side glance and a wicked grin, then pounced unexpextedly. Annette easily jumped out of the way, but Marie caught her in the face with her foot. Annette stumbled over, and Marie jumped on top of her to keep her from getting up. Marie had Annette's arms trapped under herself and her legs were inable to reach the maid. Annette, struggling to breath, said, " Ok, you win." Marie laughed, then replied, " How are you to learn anything if you give up so easily?" Annette opened her mouth to answer but suddenly the hedges shook. She looked over just in time to watch someone whiz by. " Who's there?" she asked. The moment she spoke, all movement ceased. For a minute. They came from everywhere, surrounding her and Marie. It wasn't long until Marie was on the ground and they were coming for her. She noticed they were wearing cloaks and hoods. The Hidden One's.
