• It was time. Sarah knew this, although it would bring great pain to acknowledge the fact and accept it. She knew it was for the best, and turned to her friend and savior, Marcus. "Sarah? Why are you looking at me like that? What's wrong?" Marcus asked. He was always worrying about her. That was one of his qualities that made him great. "Marcus, as much as I hate it...it's time." Sarah said. Marcus heaved a sigh. "But why do you have to sacrifice yourself? Don't you understand that I, along with our other friends will miss you?" he asked desperately. Sarah smiled sadly. "Yes, I know, but i've been living in this world thinking I couldn't change anything. Now i'm faced with this decision. Watch the world deteriorate before my eyes, or save humanity for a brighter future. I finally can make some change, and although life will end for me, life will continue for so many others." she explained. "I guess...this is good-bye, huh?" Marcus asked, tearing up. "Yes it is, and I shall miss you good friend. But you must hurry, or it will be too late!" Sarah said. Marcus unsheathed his sword, and stabbed Sarah in the heart. As she fell to the ground, Marcus's face became drenched in tears. Sarah took her last few breaths, and was gone. Marcus wiped his tears away, and looked at Sarah's body. There, in the stab wound, was a rose, the purest color of crimson that could have ever been produced by nature. This rose symbolized the unselfish, balance-bringing sacrifice Sarah had made and Marcus, the only witness to these events, knew that her death was not in vain.
