• That moment, when I'd pledged myself to Their service, I'd thought that I'd known what I was getting into. They would train me, They would change me. I would be the perfect One.
    That's what I'd thought.
I knew that I would be leaving my family, and that I probably wouldn't see them again. Ever. But it was an honourable life, to be one of Them. A better life. Even without a family.

Then They took me to Their place, Their home, a carefully guarded secret. It was everything I'd imagined it to be, and more. Magnificent rooms, decorated with gold and silver, carvings of ivory, diamonds and other gems scattered on the ground like pebbles.
Then, a week later, I found the truth.

I found out why most of those who came to join Them never saw their families again. I found out why They had so much wealth. Why I would most likely see the sun again.
    We were slaves, mindless slaves.

I was young then. I am old now.

Then, a few days ago, They showed me the first kindness I'd seen in years. They let me outside one last time, so I could see the sun. One last time.

I saw the sun, and I was overjoyed. But it was the last time I would see it. I saw the sun, for one last time.

    One Last Time.
