• Chapter One

    The Beginning of the End

Most people don't believe in any kind of mythical creatures. There some that only believe in werewovles and vampires and think there is nothing else. Adon didn't believe in them either, until that one day that changed his life forever. This day was like every other day for him, nothing new. Adon woke up that morning at five o'clock to get ready for school. He was more excited than usual that day. Because today was the final day of school before summer vacation. He got up, brushed his hair, brush his teeth, put on his school uniform and touched up in the mirror. He pushed his bangs out of his eyes. His dull leaf green hair was roughly cut far above his shoulders. His light brown eyes shined in the light making them brighter colored. He fixed his bowtie loosely and head down the stairs. Making a left turn into the kitchen and he sat down at the table. His mother was already down in the kitchen. "Good morning, Adon." said his mother.
"Morning." he said with a yawn. His mother stood by the stove fixing breakfast for the family. Running down the stairs was one of his three sisters, Essence, who was also the younger of twins. Her long flowing light blonde hair trailed behind her. Her dark blue eyes sparkled even without the lights on.
"Good morning everybody!" said Essence. She spoke loudly in a cheerful voice, even though the people she was talking to was just a few feet away. Adon covered his ear that she yelled into.
"Why do you have to be so loud in the morning? Ever heard of being quiet for once?" Adon moaned.
"Oh, good morning Adon. Still complaining as usual. Besides, is there anything wrong with being cheerful?" she questionec.
"I would make a list of reasons why but, it would be long as all the schools in the country." he said with a chuckle.
"Very funny." she said with a sarcastic laugh. Essence sat down and comb her hair for the fourth time today. The second sister and the older twin, Fumiyo. Unlike her twin Essence, Fumiyo was a quiet and calm girl. Her long straight dark sky blue hair was tied into a medium leveled ponytail. Behind a pair of silver glasses, was her dull grey eyes. She slowly made her to the table reading one of her many books that she owns. "Good morning Fumiyo!" Essence waved her hand vigorously at Fumiyo. Fumiyo glanced up from her book and back into the story.
"Morning." she said almost like a whisper. Her mind was in the book and not with her family. She marked her page with a bookmark and set it down on the table. She looked up at the clock to check the time. "It's already ten minutes till six. She is running late again." Bouncing down the stairs was Adon's final and youngest sister, Lalita. Her short pink with two pigtails bounced as she hopped down the stairs. Her innocent blue eyes would stop anyone in their tracks to praise her for her looks.
"Good morning big brother, Adon! Good morning big sisters, Essence and Fumiyo! And good morning Mommy!" she said with a smile. She hugged everyone as she said good morning.
"Thank you Lalita. Can you hand out the plates for Mother?" she said. She held out a stack of plates to Lalita.
"Okay!" she said loudly. She walked around, passing the plates to everyone. As Lalita passed out plates, Mother was plating the food as she went. They both sat down and everyone began to eat.

After breakfast was over, Essence grabbed her roller skates and padding and headed towards the door. Lalita and Fumiyo walked out the door, holding hands. Adon picked up his backpack and started out the door.
"Wait Adon." said his mother. Adon turned around to see his mother holding out a small gift. "Happy seventeenth birthday, Adon." She handed him the gift and hugged him tightly. "I bet your father would be proud to see you know almost grown up. Now you have good day at school." She let him go and headed out the door to her job. It had been seven years since their father, Alston, disappeared on a business trip. Adon was ten, Essence and Fumiyo were six and Lalita just a newborn infant at the time. When they got the news of his disappearance their were shocked. Adon had it the roughest because he and his father were very close. It took many years for him to come back from the shock of losing his father. Adon placed the gift in his bag and hopped onto his bike. He pedaled off from home and straight to school. Adon went to Folkroar High School on the other side of town. Essence and Fumiyo went Lorerich Middle School a mile away from home. Lalita went to GrandFolk Elementary School right across from the middleschool. As Adon approched the highschool he saw his longtime friend Donner. Donner had super long platium blonde hair and laid-back dark brown eyes. On his back, was his wooden sword for his kendo class. He turned to see Adon riding up.
"Hey Adon! How's it hanging!" he said with his goofy grin. Adon stopped beside him and jumped off his bike. Donner slapped him on the back. Adon jumped and turned around quickly.
"That hurt you know!" Adon complained.
"Happy Birthday Adon! Man time seems to fly don't it?" he said. Adon turned back around and calmed down a bit.
"Yeah it does. I cant believe the school year is already over this quick." he said. Adon started walking besides him, pushing his bike with him.
"As they say, time flies when you're having fun. So how is the family?" he said with a laugh.
"Perky as usual. Hey want to come over after school today? Mom wouldn't be home till ten tonight." he said.
"Sorry but I have kendo class after school, but it wont last long though. I'll be there around five." he said.
"Cool." The school bell began to ring as the clock reached eight o'clock. "We better hurry. Come on!" he said. Adon hopped back onto his back and rode away.
"Hey wait for me!" he shouted as he chased after Adon.

The last class had just ended smoothly. No work for the entire summer vacation. Everyone was grabbing their stuff and chatting up a storm. Adon grabbed his bag and headed outside to holding pen for bikes. Grabbing his bike, he left the schoolgrounds in a hurry. He want to get home so he can rest and open his present from his mother. When he got home he hopped his bike and ran up the stairs and tripped on a box sitting by the door. He faced land on the door, hard.
"Who's idea was to leave a box to trip on?" he said rubbed his sore forehead. He looked at the address on the box. The box was address to him. The return address scratched up so he coundn't read where it came from. "I wonder who sent? And why would they send it to me?" He lifted the box and carried it to his room. He set the box on the ground and streached his back. "God, this box is heavy as hell. Wonder what's in it." He grabbed a knife and cut the tape closing the lid to the box. What he saw in the box was a doll of a three tailed fox. The doll's fur was silky smooth and white as snow. He lifted the doll by the tails. "Who would want me to have this thing?" As the doll hanged in the air, it's eyes open, lifted it's head and made eye contact with Adon. The doll had deep violet eyes that looked deep into his being.
"What do you think I am, a opossum?" said the doll. Adon looked in shock as the doll spoke to him. Adon screamed when the doll spoke to him. He dropped the doll and quickly moved backwards away from the doll. Adon hit his back againist the back wall of his room. He slid down on the wall and sat on the floor. The doll land on its feet and made its over to him.
"Now, now. There's no need to be frightened by me." said the doll. The doll sat down it front of him. "You wouldn't be Adon Aelfweard, would you?" Adon wonder how the doll knew his name.
"Yeah.. that's me. Why?" he questioned.
"Oh thank goodness. I finally found you!" said the doll.
"Finally? Why were you looking for me?" he questioned again.
"My master told me to find you." said the doll.
"And who is your master?" he asked.
"Alston Aelfweard, your father, is my master." said the doll.
