• Dream Wanderer

    Chapter 2

After realizing that I wasn't dreaming anymore, I went back to my room to get ready for school. It was the first day back after summer, so maybe the dream was just a reflection of how I was feeling about going back. The only thing I looked forward to was seeing my best friend, Renesmee, otherwise known as Remi. She went on a two month trip with her family to Europe, so I haven't seen her since the week after school was over. It was senior year for us and we were looking forward to all the events and perks that came with the title.

I went over to my bedside table to pick up my phone so I could call her, but she beat me to it. I giggled and picked up.

"Hey girl," I said to her.

"HEY. Like O-M-G. Can you believe it?! We're finally seniors, which means we're that much closer to leaving this dump." Remi and I were sick and tired of living in this place. It was small, and there was nothing to do. Let alone, not that many attractive guys. "Like, are you excited to see Chad? I bet you missed him," Remi said with a giggle. I rolled my eyes.

"Remi, shut up. I know you missed him too," I told her while holding in a laugh. Chad was one of the very few guys at school that met the standards at school. He was class president, homecoming king, and football captain. So you know, the hottie in every high school movie. But here? This was real life, whether you believe it or not is entirely up to you.

“Oh, how did you know?” she said while laughing. “Anyway, I’ll be at your place in ten minutes so hurry up and get ready, or else we’ll be late for class.”

“Oh alright. See you soon Remi,” I told her and hung up the phone. I let out a deep sigh and headed over to my closet to pick out the “perfect” first day of school outfit. Not being able to decide, I grabbed a black dress, and threw on a black knit cardigan, and put on some heels to match. I went over to the bathroom to put on my makeup. When I finally decided that I was ready, I grabbed my backpack and kissed my dad goodbye and ran out the door, not forgetting to flick my sister on her forehead.

I looked down at my phone to check what time it was, and realized that I still had some time before Remi came to pick me up. I looked around my neighborhood and noticed a boy two block over, realizing that he was staring at me. When I noticed that, I looked away, only to turn back and notice that he was gone. I was so confused that when Remi came over, I didn’t realize she was even there. When she finally grew impatient, she honked her horn and surprised me.

“Hellooooooooo. Earth to Cammie? Anyone home?” she asked as she proceeded to smack me square in the forehead as soon as she got out of her car. I touched my forehead, not realizing what just happened and smacked her back.

“Was that really necessary Remi?” I laughed as I walked over to her car and got in.

“Hey! That hurt!” she yelled after me. She ran to the driver’s seat and got in the car. “Because of you staring at who knows what, we’re going to be late on the first day of school!” Remi started up the car engine and took our regular route to school.

“I couldn’t help it. You did it first. But, you’re right. I don’t know what happened. I need to tell you something, but don’t think I’m crazy or anything. Promise?”

“Yeah, yeah. Of course. Now hurry up and tell me before we get to campus!”

“Alright! Well…last night I had a dream. I was being chased, but this guy rescued me. But then he started towards me—“

“Wait! What does this guy look like?”

“Let me finish! He started towards me, and scared, I closed my eyes and opened them to find ourselves in our homeroom class. And then he told me to wake up, and that he would see me later. And then before you arrived, I was looking around the neighborhood and I think I saw him? I know, it’s just a dream, but hey. NOW, to answer your question, he was tall, built, and handsome. He had nice hair and the greatest features…” I went on and on and didn’t realize we already arrived and she parked the car. I looked over to her and she rolled her eyes and giggled.

“Come on Juliet. Let’s head to homeroom before we’re late,” she got out over the car and grabbed her bag. When I gathered my stuff and walked over to her, she locked the car and we continued to head to class. “Who knows, maybe we’ll see your prince charming,” she told me sarcastically.

“Hahaha…you think you’re so funny,” I replied. We reached homeroom and we went over to our normal seats. We continued to chat it up till the whole class; let me rephrase that. When all the girls in the class got up and started to crowd the entrance to the classroom. “Hey,” I whispered to Remi, “what do you think is going on?”

“I don’t know but there’s only one way to check,” she answered as she grabbed my arm and pulled us over to the crowd. When we got to the crowd and looked to see what was going on, I nearly fell on my butt. I guess Remi noticed because she asked, “Hey. Are you alright?” She extended her hand to help me up. I shook my head, because I wasn’t sure, exactly what was going on. I looked back, in front of the crowd and I was sure this time, I wasn’t mistaken.

    “No…I’m not alright.”

    “Why? What’s wrong?”

“It’s him. He’s here,” I told Remi as I grabbed her arm from the shock of seeing him. I continued to stare at him until he looked me in the eye. I lost my breath, because then, he smiled straight at me. He was here. He wasn’t lying.
