Natural and Drug-Free Pain Man

Dimming his glow slightly, Brightside brought a metal claw up to the front of his face. He placed it slightly at the bottom rim in a thoughtful pose."My my, what an irritating turn of events. " He murmured aloud. If Snell could frown, he would be by now. These demons arising in New York were quite the inconvenience. In his opinion the Labyrinth's awakening posed a more pressing threat than the demons. Cults and blood summoning were hardly a new threat to them. In no world did he wish to dwarf the importance of the New York emergency, nor did he raise an objection to the good Marshall. But still he lacked enthusiasm for this new mission into the city. It would be, frankly, quite a dull venture.
Knossos seemed a bit more important to him than their demon troubles. In his opinion, it was likely whatever opened Knossos had planned this event for sometime. One does not accidentally open up such a dormant paranormal hot spot by mistake. With that in mind, it stands to reason whatever was activated inside the Labyrinth was done so intentionally. He had heard the Marshall mention the possibility of it being opened from the inside, again requiring an intention, a need to get out so to speak. Either way this was a premeditated plan that the BPRD currently knows naught about. Unsurprising to say the least. As vast as the Bureau's reach was, Brightside trusted there was much they still did not know. Remain inside the winding walls of the multilevel building like he does and you too would start to view this place as merely a stunt. A little lie to reassure themselves everything threatening this world is contained and under control. Ironically if they leave the Labyrinth event alone to instead secure this new demon threat, by the time they get around to Knossos it may already be too late. He hardly believed a ground team would be effective holding back an unknown entity until they had time to return. Alas, pointing this out would be a wasted effort in Snell's mind. Let Ootori be happy and do things how she wishes. For now, he would play along like good co-worker and follow the team into the tear.
Upon entering the park, Brightside's light was a clear beacon amid the read and purple hues. The white light returned some of the former color to the small patches of earth under his feet. It was quite liberating to step outside the Bureau's walls once more. Normally the others assume Snell is content with being locked inside his labs down below, and he is. Lifting a hand he brushed the snow from a nearby bench. As refreshing as this all was, it struck an oddly painful cord. Ob's sturmt oder schneit, ob die Sonne uns lacht. The color in his bulb intensified turning to his companions. "A bit of an ominous chill today my friends." He brushed the last of the white flakes from the seat before occupying it himself. Crossing his legs, carefully having his overcoat hide the mechanical works underneath, Snell continued folding his hands into his lap. "Good luck to you all against whatever hell spawn you find. If you happen to come back alive I shall meet you all here. If not, I'm sure I will still be enjoying my time perched here."
His glass head met the steely gaze of the Marshall. He twisted it to the side and asked, "Is something the matter? Surely you should not keep those beasts waiting too long." The Overseer knew full well why the woman was placing metaphorical daggers in his direction, but he played clueless anyway.
The Dragon must has sensed the Marshall's rising displeasure in her Overseer's action. She never did take his jesting well, especially when directed at her. Shen stepped in calming the mood in an effort to tame the rising storm that was Ootori's lectures."What will we do if the enemy is in a dark room? We need you."
Snell sighed, such was to be expected as their walking flashlight. "Alright. Since you asked politely my friend." Centuries of intelligence leading up to this one role. Pity here he thought he could relax a moment. Snell was sure their arrival must have caused enough of a stir to warrant the demon's attention. Why waste the energy when they should be here shortly? It reduced the risk of being caught off guard or into waltzing into an untimely trap. Still, he surrendered again to his companion's lead. This was their area of 'expertise'. Snell's job was to oversee. Thankfully they too were aware he disliked being positioned as a fighter, yet Ootori must have her reasons for taking him along. Reasons he hoped to find out soon enough.
