    Graduation speech: 2010
    By Lorraine Hampton

No one can know what may happen in the future. No one can tell you what to do with your life, and if there is a such thing as fate, who says it cannot be changed? These graduates, have taken the future into their own hands and when they walk out of those doors today, they will change the world in their own way because they have in the potential to do so.

I know so many of these students on a personal level and have come to see that they are the face of the future, they will change the world for generations to come. I am also proud to say that many of those before you have been accepted to and plan to attend college. They have a plan to improve themselves in order to improve the world. They have taken their fates into their own hands. Students like Patience White, who worked as hard as she could to make the years fun, or Keshena McKinney, whose kindness and gentle smile warmed each of our hearts, or Alex Duff, who was always a joy to have around, or even Michael Clark, he may have been loud, but he was always determined. Each and every one of these graduates, not just the ones I mentioned, will go on to do something great, and I am glad to be a part of them.

No matter what these young men and women plan to do, they will become the future of this world, whether they become doctors, artists, engineers, pro athletes, or even if they choose to stay at home and work or raise a family instead, know that they will be the future face of America, and understand that they will create their own paths to do so. As of today, no one can control what they will accomplish, only they can chose what to become or what to do with their lives, graduates, my friends and fellow Vikings, know that when you leave today, you will hold in your hands the key to success. Remember that you are the future of the world, and that your path is your own, because when you walk over that threshold, you will be prepared for the world, and we can only hope that the world is ready for the class of 2010.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings.
