• Once again, I understand the equation…and the others don’t.

    Maybe if they’d stop chit-chatting about last night’s episode of Jersey Shore or Tosh.0 and paid attention here and there, they would be able to understand the sine and cosine graphs.

    Of course, it took me a few tries to get it right before Mr. Noto said “Way to go!” and I could get on with my life.

    They had all of yesterday’s fourth hour to ask Mr. Noto how to do it but they would rather talk. It’s always been like this. I was always in the really chatty classes. Why was that?

    Did the computers look at all the detentions I got in elementary school for talking in class? Or was it just a way of torturing me?

    I used to be really talkative when I was younger but…ever since I moved to this old mining town, my social level was turned down from ten to one. I have occasional outbursts that are ridiculously stupid or funny.

    I smiled at the one I had around the beginning of my junior year.
    ~~~~~~~
    Things were actually quiet because one of my classmates was gone for a while. I liked to tease him and he liked to tease me back. He sat in the front of the class while I sat in the back. Yeah. I was one of those girls who seemed “Emo” or something along those lines.
    He came in and it began.
    “Where’ve ya been, J-Rod?” I asked in the silence. “You’ve been gone for a while.” I was messing around. I didn’t know if he knew that or not.
    “Mrs. Teal’s room?” Jarod asked uncertainly. “Why are you so concerned, Hayley?” He then asked me.
    I smiled. All eyes were on me in expectancy.
    I threw on a derisive and bored expression. “Because I have a secret crush on you.” I said with sarcasm dripping out of my mouth.
    Everyone laughed.
    “Not-so-secret no more!” Darlene said, laughing.
    “What is it, Justine?” Mr. Noto asked as I drifted away from fairy tale land.
    Justin Eberhardt (Pronounced: Eb-Er-Heart) was the guy who sat in front of me. I’d known him since junior high since I’ve been in the same advanced classes as everyone in this room--for that matter--since seventh grade.
    He was a good kid but…he’s a little slow. He’s got a good head on his shoulders because he asks questions when he’s confused. That is a good thing to have because that is how one learns. He just asks questions that usually are stupid.
    If I had a dollar…
    He asked his question which I shut out as I brought out the story I was writing. I liked to right my own stories. They were fun. My “Mom” thinks they’re awesome.
    I had “Mom” in quotation marks for a reason that I'll explain at another time.
    “Do you get it now?” Mr. Noto asked Justin.
    “Yes. Now I know.” Replied Justin.
    I smiled. Another chance for my sarcastic humor. “And knowing is half the battle.” I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
    Everyone laughed. Yes. I did that. I quoted the old G.I. Joe cartoon. Just one of the many qualities I have.
    Not only am I smart and sarcastic but I also have a good concept of old media.
