Taking Flight

• Description: This was originally a song, but I've morphed it back to a poem being that it's stayed just tuneless lyrics. I wrote this during a very rough time in my life. School sucked and my grandfather was dying of cancer and I was basically forced to watch him deteriorate, which was probably the most painful experiences I have and will go through. After he died, the rest of my family kinda screwed up, me included. This is me, hoping for a better tomorrow....

Today, I find my world torn by sorrow.
So full of dark and full of hate…
Everything’s crashing down on me
I’m losing sight of the light of tomorrow.

Every morning when I wake,
I hope my dream has come true.
But the dawn is still so dark and dim…
Will my life ever be made new?

But I remember….

One day, I will rise from this insanity…
Take hold of my dreams,
Make them into reality..
I’ll detach from my shadow and run to the light…
Spread my wings,
And from this emptiness, take flight…

Every day, I’m growing weaker,
I’m fading with the shade.
But the promise still lingers with me,
My future is made.

Every morning when I wake,
I’ll watch for the morning.
Even though the dawn’s still black,
I know the light is coming…
