• flying.

flying into the night on black wings of a demon,

wishing to be one of the good,

    of the angels.

    She sighs,

knowing her dreams will never come true,

that she shall stay in the dark forever,

an outcast to the rest of the world.

    She watches from the shadows,

the snow white angels playing in sunshine,

    smiling and laughing,

never having known what sadness is.

Her eyes spot a different color,

    a soft, light silver,

and the hazel eyes staring at her,

    into the darkness.

    She panics,

    ashamed of her raven wings,

    and flies farther away,

the silver winged angel losing sight.

    Her thoughts are tumbled,

    her mind scattered,

her dreams of being in the light resurface,

but then her curse reminds her with its dark past.

    Hazel eyes and silver wings,

    all thoughts lost behind them,

    her hear beating frantically,

a new feeling emerges from her lost soul.

She watched the angels once more,

    from afar this time,

hoping to catch a glimpse of argent,

the feeling inside of her growing stronger.

She hears a sound and turns,

gasping at seeing the angel hidden in the darkness,

he smiles warmly and she flees,

    her heart pounding with fright.

    He follows calmly,

smiling gently and humming a soft tune,

    trying to calm her,

he is intrigued by the raven colored one.

She flies to the darkest recess of the earth,

not knowing what it is that makes her afraid,

    is it the light,

    or perhaps of being rejected.

    He watches her from above,

sees how she hurts and wishes to help,

but sees how he scares her so,

his heart beats in time with her heaving wings.

    She flies faster still,

    trying to find sanctuary,

where no light one would not dare enter,

she sighs at last when it is found.

    Once her breath is caught,

she wonders why it is she is hiding,

lurking in a place no one besides her dare go,

    like a hunted beast.

    A flash of silver,

    a spark of hazel,

her eyes begin to water as the feeling inside her grows,

    threatening to tear her apart.

    She yelps and backs away,

feeling a soft hand on her shoulder,

    and turns,

    seeing him.

    she is afraid,

terrified he wants to destroy her,

so she curls up in a ball,

    her fear overwhelming.

    He looks at her sadly,

    and sighs,

dropping his hand and looking down,

he never wanted to scare her.

He crouched down in front of her,

    wincing as she whimpered pitifully,

and brushed his fingertips hesitantly down her arm,

amazed at the pure white skin and silk soft touch.

    She flinches,

her body prepared for pain that never comes,

instead a warm caress on her face makes her look up,

her tear filled eyes wide in surprise.

    He smiled sadly,

wiping away stray tears from her face,

his gentle touch calming her fear,

    as he studied her.

    Her tears stopped,

    as she began to relax,

her wings dropping in exhaustion from the long chase,

all fear of the angel disappearing.

He stood up and held out his hand,

    hoping she would take hold,

fearing she would flee once more,

his mind telling him to protect her.

    She slowly took his hand,

    and pulled herself up,

trying to hide her night-colored wings,

wishing she was like the others.

His other hand brushed against the raven feathers,

    seeing her flinch,

    and pulls away,

giving her the chance to run.

She looks at him in awe,

someone not disgusted by her darkness,

    and moves a bit closer,

hoping he doesn't wish to leave her.

He smiles and takes her hand once more,

pulling her gently towards the light,

his silver wings brushing comfortingly against hers,

    beckoning.

    She looks towards the brightness,

a place she's never dared go,

    and nods hesitantly,

    feeling safe at his side.

He nods and squeezes her hand,

    flying into the sunshine,

holding her close by his side,

    his heart beating rapidly.

    She winces,

the light burning her unaccustomed eyes,

she shied away from its painful glare,

    looking back into her shadows.

He pulls her against his chest,

holding onto her frail form tightly,

feeling her heart race next to his,

burying his face in her crimson hair.

    She sighed,

the pain fading as she felt his body against hers,

    his wings keeping them up,

the feeling in her soul exploding.

She shyly looked up at her savior,

into his hazel eyes and blushed,

    noticing him looking back,

and wrapped her arms around his waist.

    He smiled softly,

    looking down at her,

an idea burning in his mind,

as he pulled her closer to him.

    She looked up at him,

    and him down at her,

    as he leaned in,

softly grazing his lips against hers.

    Her chocolate eyes widened,

    in fear and surprise,

    as her heartbeat sped up,

her face filling with crimson blood.

    He looked into her eyes,

    searching in her soul,

    and found the light,

and with another kiss pulled it out.

    As he kissed her deeper,

    a change began,

starting from the tips of her wings to the ends of his,

    and she kissed back.

    Once they broke apart,

    gasping for air and blushing,

    they noticed,

    they were different.

What was once black is now crimson,

what was once silver is now blue,

    her hair had turned black,

    his hair white.

    They both smiled,

    his of happiness,

    and hers of relief,

    both fulfilling their dreams.

    He had found his partner,

    someone to protect,

she had found her true colors,

and a love bloomed in her heart.

They flew off into the sunset,

    hand in hand,

    crimson and blue,

hazel and chocolate forever instilled in their minds.
