• Last Monday
    I woke up
    And it was raining

It was a sad autumn day
    The rain dripped and trickled
    Through the leaves
    Making them fall too

    I stood in that park
    With my coat and umbrella
    Useless at my feet
Lying in the damp smelling leaves

    Standing in the blue twilight
Letting the rain seep into my soul
    Waiting for something wonderful
To come in through the rain

The street lights flicked to life
    I waited a long time
Waiting for the moon to come out
    From behind the clouds

    I walked home
    Through rain warm and cold
    Past lonely street lights
Wishing the moon would light the way

    Leavening my dreams behind
    In puddles and tears
    They only cause more pain
    Let’s forget that dream

But one morning I’ll see the sun
Even if the moon never shines on me
Even if lonely street lights guide me there
Even if it takes all night
Clouds and rain can’t keep the sun away
