The greatest pain you'll ever know is brought on by surprise,
The kind that is so horrid that it brings tears to your eyes.
The pain is so intense and deep that no one can ever reach,
The agony is so great it cannot be described with speech.
The hardest part is mending the portion of the heart that has been torn,
And sewing up the wound after you've removed the thorns.
The realization that a loved one is gone makes the situation worse,
Sometimes its like the world is rebelling- sometimes it is a curse.
The greatest pain you'll ever know
Is learning to let loved ones go.
The reality that you'll never see them is a bullet to the chest,
Nothing can make the pain subside- not even trying your best.
It is so hard to accept the fact that you won't see them again,
At least not without a picture frame to keep their photo in.
You hope and pray they know you love them and that they know you care,
But it just isn't the same as having that person there.
You can spill your heart with a pen and let your eyes bleed too,
But no matter what you do- it won't bring them back to you.
So pierce your heart with a dagger and let your spirit die,
And if you ever feel the need just go ahead and cry.
Because the greatest pain you'll ever know
Is learning to let loved ones go.
