Raised in the sewers, fostered by rats,
Shunned by society; for what?
A small, innocent bundle
Lays in the dreary place.
Its eyes tightly shut,
Its mouth gaping
wide and pink.
Pale skinned.
Tears.
Hunger.
The child dreams
Of a new hope.
A new source of light
And a mother's embrace.
The child cries out, its wailings
Ring out clear in the starless night
Of isolation and loneliness.
- Title: Innocent One
- Artist: iZann
- Description: A depressing poem about a child abandoned in the sewers. It is in the shape of an hourglass, so the first line has 9 syllables, the second line has 8, and so on. In the middle it has one syllable, then it goes up to nine again. I really like the style as it's really effective. Hope you like it!
