• Silence broken oh-so-slowly
by the breathing and the crackle
    of the monster, yet unseen
pray and hope your teeth wont rattle
You cant see it, it sees you
you just hope you've paid your due
While it sits and tastes your fear
allowing you, mercifully, to only hear
the terror coursing through your veins
    adrenaline never felt so strange
And yet, so still, it waits
    Slowly the fear ices up
    filling your once empty cup
    shaking legs hold you steady
as you try to be at the ready
its time to face that scary beast
Who’s only wish is to feast
upon your fear, upon your terror
but it has made a gruesome error
It allowed the veil to slip
now you see it, though not clearly
Now you see it, hold that dearly
Not too many find the reserve
to reach down inside, and begin to deserve
    the glimpse you've been given,
    That glimpse of a thing
that once, long ago, knew how to sing
That thing that sucks, the white from the dove
that thing that, once, knew how to love
that thing that glowers into your eyes
That thing that, with our memory, dies
