• I wake up and see the sun
I go to school but can't wait
Until this wretched day is done
    I complain about being bored
    And also that
My parents don't own a Ford

I go to bed that night
I say it is too early but
I'm too tired to put up a fight
    I get ready and then
    I turn off the light

    In the night-
    My breath stops
    I open my eyes
And the walls are spinning like a top
    My asthma is acting up

I gasp for air and reach for my pump
I reach it just in time!

My life that night was safe
    I think of how
I could be in a grave
Six feet under what a shock!

I tell no one what took place
I curl up under the covers
    And I hide my face

The next morning I see daylight
I smile and jump for joy
    By now I've learnt
That life is not a toy

I hug my friends at school
And try to follow every rule
I go back home in that old broken car
    But smile all the way
    Though it is very far
I give God thanks for that day

Before bed - early that night
    I don't forget to pray
"Thank you for my boring school
Thank you for those billions of rules
Thank you for my family and friends,
But most of all I thank you
    That my life didn't end."
