Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul to keep
For if I die before I wake
Then my soul is his to take
(Pre-chorus key change)
Insomnia knocking at your door ~~~
Tearing you from slumber's shores ~~~
You turn away, yet it still implores ~~~
A haunting voice you can't ignore ~~~
(Chorus)
Hush little lady don't you cry
Tonight I'll sing you lullabies
Calm your weary, steady sighs
Close your bleary, heavy eyes
For if these lullabies don't calm
your aching heart and inner qualms
I'll be at your side while you toss and turn
Guitar in hand, to quell your concerns
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul to keep
For if i die, then don't you weep
God plants his seeds, sows, and reaps
(Pre-chorus key change)
(Chorus)
*Major -> Minor Key Change*
Rock a bye baby in the tree tops
when the wind blows, it rarely stops
Boughs break above, pieces fall to the crops
The remnants lost in floods of teardrops
(Pre-chorus key change)
(Chorus)
For if these lullabies don't calm
your aching heart and inner qualms
I'll be here beside you when you wake
Hand outstretched for you to take

- Title: A Loving Lullaby
- Artist: PescadoNino17
-
Description:
I wrote this lullaby for a girl I liked to help with her insomnia. Unfortunately, I never finished the chord progression so they're only lyrics and not actually a song. Yet.
I've used the available code to try and separate the different parts of the song for the purpose of shortening the submission and trying to provide some semblance of flow.
