• They met at a crowded bar,
Drunks shrilling out in the cold,
They shared a beer and a look,
And then they hit the road,

A merry chase began that night,
"What's your name I wanna know?"
She just smiled at him and took delight
"At this point sir, God only knows."
He tried to walk beside her,
Felt the pavement slip beneath his feet,
And arms spread wide she only smiled,
As she twirled in the darkness of Lonely Street,

Her eyes they glistened in the light from the moon,
Her skin fair and pale as snow,
"Where do you come from, what's your name,
    God I have to know!"
    "I come from a place,"
    She said with a laugh,
"That is far beyond your ken,
So hurry up, lets make haste,
The storm is about to begin,"

And as she spoke the sky turned cloudy,
That cold north wind started to blow,
    "C'mon Jack, Don't be afraid,
I know a place where we can go",

She took him down an alley,
Into a darker section of town,
And as he walked beside her,
He tried to hide his frown,
She pulled him through the alley,
Over the dirt and around the muck,
Her touch was gentle, her laugh was pure,
He was sure he'd run out of luck,

"Where are we goin?" he said in a whisper,
his eyes tracing the outline of her form,
They passed a drunk who lay listless,
Choking on the coming of the storm,

Her eyes they danced a merry tune,
Her hips moved with the beat,
She dragged him closer and then she whispered,
    "Jack we're leaving Lonely Street",

"Lonely Street is where I'm from",
He felt the need to explain,
"I dont know where we're going..."
And then the cold turned into rain,
She shook her head, flashed her pearls,
When they spilled out into the street,
Her laugh seemed loud, almost shrill,
As she danced around his feet,

"Open your eyes, cant you see?"
Her face was lit with life and joy,
He shook his head and then she laughed,
    "Oh you silly boy!"

    She left him there,
    In the dead of night,
Standing in the cold December rain,
And when she vanished he saw the light,
Of what she had been tryin' to say,
The ground beneath his feet glittered like gold,
That no rain nor snow could wash away,
And as he looked up, the story's told,
The rain turned the sky from night to day,

A foriegn feeling filled his breast,
    As he stood looking 'round,
And he swore he saw an angel,
Dancing through the darker side of town,
"Well," he said with a smile,
That was quite unused to his face,
"Looks like I'll stay a while,
In this bright and beautiful place."

And as he walked holding a grin,
Up a new street with a skip in his step,
He couldnt help but to remember the warmth of a sweet December Rain,
And then he began to laugh as he wept.
