if I Could Be

• Description: A poem I wrote when people were expecting me to be tough as a rock, fast as the wind, raging as a volcano, and so on. I wanted to impact lives, make changes, and by following peoples expectancy for me, instead of following my heart.

If I could be a stone
smooth and cold to the touch
I would live as long as the world
yet would not experience much

If I could be a raindrop
silent as I fall to the ground
I could effect the world in an instant
yet would not make a sound

If I could be a volcano
destroying all in my path
I would not want to build my rage
to then have many flee from my wrath

If I could be the sky
Infinite, blue and white
I could see all below me
yet they won't appreciate my sight

If I could be a gust of wind
flowing in the sky
my impact would be swift
but I would rapidly die

To make a quick impact
a truly amazing feat
to change someones life
in as quick as a heart beat

As I think of this
Of What I could Be
What I need To Realize
Is I was Made To Be Me
