• I’ve fought—
    way too hard,
    way too long—
    to stay here anymore.

    I’m smart enough to see
    battles I can’t win.
    Because I can’t keep up—
    measure up—
    be perfect.
    At best,
    I’ll die trying.

    So I give up,
    even though I love you;
    because I can’t fufill
    what you want.

And it’s breaking me to say this—
    breaking me to do this—
    but I gotta get away.
    (I’ll become a bird,
and fly long and far off.)

So this dog’s cut the leash—
the cat’s out of the bag—
    bird’s out of the cage—
    I’m gone.

    Rearview mirror shattered…
    I’m gone.
