Why,
I ask
Does poetry have to rhyme?
Can't it be
A free thing
A way to express
Your inner thoughts,
Your passions,
Your dreams,
Your life?
Why does everything
Have RULES?
Why,
Why,
Why?
My poetry,
While not exactly
The common kind,
Is poetry.
Why,
You ask?
Because
I pour my
Soul,
Heart,
Love,
Every emotion known
To man (and woman).
My poetry
Does not have rules.
No
Restrictions,
Bindings,
Tethers,
Or anything that would keep
Your poetry from breathing,
From living the way
That it should.
So,
I may not be right
Or even sane,
But there's one thing
I know;
If your poetry doesn't live,
If you don't feel it flow though you
Like water from a glass,
Then it's not living.
So to hell with the rules.
Let your poetry live.

- does poetry have to be rhymed? I know a Canadian friend who always writes poem without rhyme... and even English songs don't have it... But to me I prefer it with rhyme.. it would sound better

- I think poetry is relative and shouldn't have set 'rules' what sounds good and fluent to one person may not to another.

- For many reasons. One being a standard in which to judge another artist by. This concerns: what is art, artistic credit, and perfection. Your poetry does indeed have the rules, but they are your own. Its restricted by the language you are using and bound with the tethers that shackle your thinking. The same tethers we all have.
