• 11/25/06 – Stereotypes and Monotypes

    Why are we bound,
To the life which we are forced,
To the monotony which was set,
    By those before us.

    Why are we required,
    To keep the pace,
Of those who beat their drum,
To the tattoo of a morose funeral march,
So slow and demeaning apon the brighter things in life.

For so do I wish it were not so,
    Not evident,
    Not eminent,
And so do I wish that the inverse takes hold,
That I dedicate my life to it,
To a quest of so everlasting,
That mere life cannot make a dent.

For this quest to take up,
    Is such that it become,
    More of an obsession,
    A passion,
That leaves other thoughts to rot,
In the dark dank eternity of monotony.

But with my dreams in hand,
To the edge of this earth,
    Will I venture,
    And vanquish life’s modern monotony,
To revive the ancient spontaneity of life.
