• Winter’s wind numbs his face.
He’s searching for her, while finding his place.
He looks up at the clouds,
    Then down at the snow.
He looks all around to find where he’ll go.

Lost in the ice that nature provided,
He searches his soul, his heart two sided.
The freezing purity melts all his fears.
The beauty around him brings him to tears.

    She’s off in the distance,
    Too far to discern,
    He chases after her,
    His doubt has returned.

    The clouds, they part,
    As he opens his heart.
    He sobs as he speaks,
    His voice has gone meek.

Questions of why float through the air.
She starts to leave, her face in despair.
    He won’t let her go,
    It can’t end like this,
He swallows his pride and goes in for the kiss.

    That sweet embrace,
As they meet again, face to face.
For a moment, all is well.
But as she goes, he falls into hell.

    No time for answers,
    No time for what-ifs,
    Just time for goodbye,
    One final kiss

    It’s not fair to him.
    It’s not fair to her.
    Two lovers like them,
    Deserve so much more

    Where once there was breath,
    There is only air.
    Where once there was life,
    There is now despair.

    He takes her back in,
A great weight in his heart,
    Was this what she deserved?
    An end with no start.

    The tears come naturally,
    Without shame or disgrace,
    The pain in his heart,
    Is displayed on his face.

    So maybe it is better,
To have loved and to lost,
    But things must end,
    Despite the high cost.
