• There she stands straight and tall,
    Silently, she watches all,
    She protects her children here,
In her quiet way, she calls us near,
She gives us shade and natural fuel,
Bed posts, chairs, and reliable tools,
Gladly, she breathes air into our lungs,
She lays sweet nutrients on our tongues,
We take her for granted every day,
With each swing of the ax, she fades away,
    Silently, we watch her fall,
No more does she stand straight and tall,
There she lay, upon the desk,
No longer filling a child's chest,
    Crumpled up, disgraced, and crying,
    Mother Nature lays there dying,
Soon our world will turn to stone,
Without our Mother on the earthen throne,
Help her grow up straight and tall,
So she can heal and care for all.
