• 7/7/09 – Ruminations in Red

    Picture this,
a soft glow emanating from a single stone,
    as it seems to gleam,
basking in the light of a thousand stars.

    Picturesque,
    it seems to become,
as the moonlight dances upon its angular features,
casting an eerie red shadow behind it.

The warm summer air wafts around it,
one of the rarest of stones on earth,
more elusive than the popular diamond,
more rare than the perilous pearl.

It sits, nestled within its golden casing,
hanging suspended from the soft skin of her neck,
    where I placed it,
    in remembrance of her birth,
    as my gift of thanks.
