• Feet on the sky

    Break me up.
    Build me down.
    Crash me upside-down.
    I lay beneath the sheets.
    And close my eyes.
    One last smile.
    One last night.

    Kill the lights.
    Inside my head.
    I'm no longer here,
    Asleep in my bed.
    Eyelids closed,
    lashes brush the skin.
    I'm playing my own game.
    But you're here to win.

    In my dreams.
    Behind closed eyes.
    (Closed eyes; open doors.)
    My subconcious mind,
    At night, creates dreams.

    And there you are.
Smiling at me in my sleep.
    Che.
    And you thought I lied.
When I said I see you in my dreams.

    *

You call me to the stage.
    Stand beside an open cage.
    The ghosts in the audience.
    Don't move or speak.

    They're transparent.
    Spooky grey.
    Flowing, evanescent.
    Dead and gone.

    I step into the spotlight.
    You becon me closer.
    Smiling; everything is fine.
After all, what could go wrong?
    This dream is mine.

Sometimes, I picture you with angel wings.
Tonight, I see you in my dreams.
You've got odd little things, breaking out throgh your skin.
    And protruding from your shoulder blades;
    Oddly shaped bones.
My love.....is that the price of your sins?

    Your wings are broken.
And yet I walk closer still.
You grasp me with a hand.
    And suddenly I realize;
    It feels cold and dead.

    *

    You were right, of course.
    It was a lie.
I never see you in my dreams.

I always see you in my nightmares.
