• Did it matter that you never knew when to come in out of the rain?
Or that even when the snow laughed at grey eyes staring off into a deep sky-
You still could not tear yourself away… ?

I was never in your gazes, and I always knew that. Always knew that when you smiled,
It was because the wind had whispered you something charming.
    Something that made you believe.

One day you will fade softly into a starlit sky without so much as a backwards glance,
And I will be left to wonder if the snowflakes that fell from your eyes were tears of sadness…
    Or of joy.

It never mattered that the rain had laid her claim long before I,
Nor that Winter’s waiting game would soon come to an end, you the victor.
All that mattered was the frozen smile that graced your lips.
