• First to start you gallantly race,
May you always do so while i am here.
The green light for songbirds to sing,
And the beginning of something new.
    Travling steady across the sky,
Filling half the world with light,
And excitement for what the day has to hold.
High above us all, the center of its track,
You watch as we scurry about,
    Adults to and from work,
    Children outside enjoying your warmth.
    Slowly you wave goodbye,
Sinking down just as quick as you rose
You give way to softer light,
    A near match to dawns,
And fill the sky with apple blossoms.
    You lie beneath our view,
But not without putting a spot light on your friend,
    We settle down and watch
As a new racer take their place on your course,
Not afraid the the path is now dark,
New life awakes with its dawning.
    Nearly matching your time exact,
    The baton is passed back,
As you signal for the song birds to sing.
The gallantly racers of night and day,
May always run while i am here.
If ever a day when the relay is stopped,
It will be the one filled with fear.
