As I first walked down that dark lit street
and gazed quietly upon the swaying trees,
So timidly I stepped, full of hope, and fear;
My desires known, yet out of reach.
I believed myself afraid, you see,
that the walls of my past would tumble (down),
collapsing themselves on my heart and mind.
Again, rendering me unable to expound
the truth, my wants, my hopes, my dreams,
stifling them under walls of madness,
burying forever my emotions, it seems,
to relinquish my mind to naught but sadness.

Description:
This was me being inspired one day, when I broke up with my girlfriend. I had had an epiphany, and well this is the result.
I'm reasonably proud of it because my poetry is often dreadful.
Specifically I branch my poetry off 19th century romanticism, and I absolutely love John Keats.
Nonetheless, feel free to absolutely tear it apart, as I know the members of this website often do so happily.
The meter, btw, is far from perfect but whatever. I've seen much worse. - Date: 08/08/2011

- I enjoyed this. I would never tear it apart. And lovely accompanying picture as well!
