• Dusk filled sky behind your eyes
    Asleep to awake to asleep.
    Delicate memories
    Etched into my subconscience;
    Cross examination of
    The tainted evidence,
    Smiles upon smiles—
    Truth becomes lies
    Periwinkle afternoons
    Sitting under that tree.
    Faded past rolls in,
    Like a tide;
    Reverberating day after day.
    Timid shelters
    From the rain,
    Open your eyes
    To feel my pain.
    Twilight still lingers
    Upon thy fingers—
    Trace the moments forever.
    Abstraction of the day
    Bleeding from within,
    This is killing my pen.
    Sentence to fragment to sentence,
    Incomplete thoughts reign,
    The words are a complete run-on.
    No person, place, thing, or idea
    Can save me now.
    Only an action will do.
    Speak! verb, breath into me.
    Don’t turn your head;
    One look away and I’ll be dead.
    Believe in me—
    Hold on a little while longer.
    Behind the dusk
    There is always a dawn;
    Spilling from the Heaven above,
    Waking with the reality
    That I am no longer alive.
    Splash the water in my face!
    Asleep to awake to asleep again…
    It all tumbles down,
    Pick up the pieces before they drown.
    Can’t lose what is left,
    Can’t keep what was.
    Down and out,
    Our lives are spent;
    But, like a fresh quarter
    The moon is back.
    For a job well done
    Is the return of the Sun,
    Forgive my surrender.
    Accept my love.
    Sleep now darling,
    Night has come.
    It’s now behind my eyes;
    Remainders of darkness sleep.
    Until our dusk, it will keep.
