• I lay out my tools. My pigments , shades and brushes.
My canvas a blank work of art facing me in the mirror.
I know this medium. I know myself.
I start with the base painting on my flawless mask.
I have skin the color of porcelain but now the tone is as even as a judge's smile.
I dip the angle brush and highlight my cheekbones and brow bones.
The effect is subtle and pleasing like good lighting at a cinema.
I do my eyes next. The eyes are the window to my soul but I give them dressings.
I highlight below my eyebrow then dip a small angle brush into my kohl pot.
Leaning in I line my peculiar shaped deep brown eyes as thin and close to the lash line. I bring the line out like a sigh in a slight angle. I have my cat eyes on.
I line my lips and fill them in. A perfect pout glistens out. I did all this with my eyes open. One day she won't be afraid to see herself either. I wear my mask and walk into the world. Who needs to know? My eyes are still open.
