Hello Runway!

For those reading this thread for the first time: Hi! Hello! emotion_yatta This is a little space I post to whenever I find info shared about Gaia's Runway feature. ninja The thread originally started back in 2022 ~ And there's been a number of updates, changes, questions & answers regarding Runway since then exclaim emotion_awesome Fun stuff!!!!!

I noticed some interesting news about the Runway as of late, so I couldn't help to drop by the forum and discuss it!

You've probably already seen the New Feature Survey thread that goes over some of the upcoming stuff Gaia has planned for The Runway, but I figured you might also appreciate this news:

With most of the major work on Towns completed, we’re once again focused on the Runway update. We’re adding in some additional features, but expect it to be ready before the end of month. After that, we'll take care of a few smaller updates before moving onto the inventory system enhancements that we have queued up.

11/03/2022 Got the wireframes and mocks for the new UI done. Had to fix some remaining bug for the Friendlist backend, but there are a lot more work to do for its overhaul. Working on admin panel for Runway.

11/08/2022 Was informed about the DST dead hour bug from Runway is still here. Finally found the underlying problem and fixed it. I fixed the wrong thing last year. Now back to admin panel.

11/11/2022 Code is a lot cleaner now that different views are in their own files and routines are properly shared in models. The reporting backend is done and I'm adding a new feature to view all your past runway entries on one page.

gaia_star How do you feel about Gaia updating The Runway feature? Happy with the old Runway, excited for the new? Or...?
(Personally I'm hyped that there will be... a way to flip avatars!? So many times I've wanted to submit an entry and the darn thing was facing the wrong way. gonk AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH )

gaia_star Is there anything not mentioned in the New Feature Survey thread's opening post that you wish would be included as a feature in Runway? emotion_kirakira Why?

I'm ecstatic about the upcoming changes! My personal favorite is the flipping avatar option, but being able to see your own entries all on one page will be a game changer for a lot of people. From now on they can know for certain if they've already entered an avatar before. xd

Thank you for the thread, I know we all love our Runway feature and love to talk about it too.

i'm looking forward to it, but ngl i'm a little nervous. as i am with most update rollouts
guessing there'll be some things that, on launch, won't work as well as they should or even at all, and we'll all just have to deal with it for a while
like runway growing pains ^_^

i am most excited about flipping the avatar (finally all the speech bubbles and hidden pose will be freed hehehe :3) and being able to more easily view past runway entries
resubmitting entries and a possible increase in the prize payout (for gold and free themes) are also runway updates i will enjoy

I'd also love if they gave us the option to name our entries (though I can see how some people would abuse that). And being able to enter a "runway dress up" when it calls for specific items/from specific retailers so that it makes a tab or highlights the correct item. That'd be nice and would also never happen lol

Imagine a special form where we're able to submit a series of items when submitting runway themes (like a trade window without a trade). Ah, that would be a pipedream.

I love 'runway growing pains' because I think that's pretty accurate for a lot of things. It implies that things are trying to be changed for the better but that there may be steps along the way that still need adjusted and corrected but it's an upward progress. whee

anyway. pls let me flip, I want to use "lets go!" god damnit. Curse you flippy items. I am so excited to not have to resave and resave and save again just to be get the avatar looking right after a flip

There's all the other stuff everyone wants too, new prizes, resubmit, etc.

There's honestly so many ideas that seem to be coming up that I'm looking forward to I just hope things don't break super bad. I love runway and I'm so happy to see it getting TLC finally.

    11/14/2022 Work on the Runway profile page continues. Wonder if the page should be made accessible publically. Need to pass the wireframe onto UI team. Majority of work now is to populate past entries and stats to players.

    11/18/2022 Added a class to store and handle statics of past winnings since I'm doing the whole history list. It would be nice to be able to get a leaderboard of all time or monthly Runway winners. This should come in handy for calculating reputation scores for reporting.

    11/23/2022 Alchemy sometimes do not grant the extra item, turns out there is a bug where 1% of the time the bonus item wouldn't get granted even though the success rate is 100%. That's finally fixed. Work continue on Runway UI changes. Just the modals took a while to do.

There was also a Runway related question answered during last week's ATS!

Looks like Runway PMs are going to be made optional to receive!

I can add an option to opt out of receiving Runway related messages in your profile page that comes with the Runway update. Hope that will help.

i'll hold my comments until the runway updates have been implemented and are functioning,
but i'm glad runway is getting an overhaul cause i do enjoy participating occasionally.

There isn't really much new to share about Runway news today. This past Saturday Lanzer updated his work diary thread again, and it looks like "Unfortunately Runway UI is delayed until the Christmas event items are done.".

Runway update hit a roadblock as I'm waiting on UI assets, will start working on the ignore list once I fix a few bugs.

Though if anyone wants to ask specifics regarding the upcoming Runway update there's also the ATS 12/13/2022 - Pre Event Questions thread. I usually keep track of the questions answered during ATS in case something I find interesting comes up, but if anyone wants to ask something regarding Runway and share here that's totally cool too. That way all of us Runway fans are on the same page (hopefully) !

No, runway entries are never deleted. We upgraded our scheduler server last week, there might had been an issue with the nightly task that create museum entries. Will look into this later today.
