There was such a disparity between EIs, particularly the first several. Some where gorgeous, some fun, and some had art the went with nothing else. I was underwhelmed by several of the earlier ones. But then, there were some of the most lovely, fun items in Gaia. Getting new poses for your arms and legs was really exciting. The Reve Rouille is one of my favorite items ever. Seeing each new evolution was exciting, and you had some lively discussions in the EI threads.

I'd say the art these days is all pretty top notch, so I don't think there would be any disappointments.

maybe this?

thank you!!

I really miss the EI stories, it's too bad we don't have items like that anymore.

Agreed. The Reve Rouille is a classic EI and the story was fun to follow. The Marin palette was also quite special. If I had to pick a new colour theme for a classic EI, I suppose it would be something really fun! What colour theme revision would you do for Reve Rouille? There are so many options...

I'd love an opalescent or holographic version. The dress parts at the end are the star, for me. That and the longer curly hair. So many good poses, though. Maybe a white and gold version, which would go really well with a lot of pre-existing items.

Trash Pup

I remember EIs when I was in high school. It was exciting to see what your item turned into every week and I wish it came back especially with how much the art has improved over the years.

Premium Noob

I loved EIs so much, even the ones that were underwhelming. Having something to look forward to every week, or whenever they were evolving, was exciting. I remember when I was vacationing in Mexico one summer and ran to the local internet cafe to see what the Masquerade had changed into.

My favorite ones are Masquerade, The Case of Pietro, and Compass of Seidh. Did Hero's Journey ever end up finishing or did they just give up on it?

Tipsy Genius

I really miss EIs. Sure, there was the downside that if a specific concept/style didn't appeal to you it meant you'd have little interest in future evolutions for the item itself, but the descriptions/stories were always fun to follow. Plus I'd say the items that really stood out at the time are still considered pretty damn good nowadays! (Monstrosity my beloved)

edit: I should also probably mention that getting to design a REI with a Project Sapphire Ticket was legit the most fun I've had on Gaia and I will cherish the absolutely insane ticket questing experience forever
I loved EIs. I enjoyed seeing what each item would evolve into. Some of them have very unique poses that haven't really been replicated since (the scifi/mecha ones in particular) and despite that they're now in what many would consider the vintage/"dated" styles of yesterday, are still quite usable - in pose, if not in colors. They were an amazing way to showcase individual artists interests and styles. Pico's Urn for example is still one of my favorite items on the site.

Since Gaia is no longer interested in this style of item release, I simply wish they would recolor more of the older EIs in more modern colors, or perhaps take these older colors/schemes and put them on newer items. And yes, I realize many of the original files have been lost for the poses and it's a lot of work, hence why we don't often see them and instead see new items "inspired by" the older ones in the new "flatter" item styles which are easier to recolor. Still, a few poses a year would be a welcome addition to the site's item pool.

I miss evolving items sooo much u_u I loved it when they had some sort of story behind them and it was always really interesting to see how exactly their concepts evolved over time. my favorite will always be Nartian Rock, I adored the lil comics and really appreciated when Kink was even featured as a RIG character !! they brought so much creativity to Gaia's item base and I would love to see them brought back. I'm sure the item artists could handle it, I feel the newer items are so creative and refined and that could be brought to the evolving item scene.

Compass of Seidh was so good! I love using the Ostara and Valkyrie options. And Masquerade was so unique.

The unfolding story was the best part, for me, too. Solving murders, or romance, or simpler poses becoming more elaborate.. crying

I really miss the EIs, I used to look forward to the evolutions every week. Even if I wasnt able to get the EI, it was always a joy to see how it evolved.
My favourites was always the Ciel and Rosamund items, but there were were so many fun ones.

Stellar Doll

I miss Dr. Singh and her umm... Dedication to her work. The EI stories were fun to read and it was fun to see the items get new poses. I wish we could have them again. sweatdrop

Sexy Vegetarian

The actual EI updates were usually written a lil too silly for me but I was still really excited to see EIs change. I'd love to see new ones.

From a purely econ-market point of view they're really interesting too as you kind of don't know if your investment is gonna pay off! I remember some EIs starting sorta underwhelming and then getting just wildly popular - and their MB value reflected that, of course.
