Month 2025 Angel Item Avi Challenge

about this/why this challenge
hello! I wanted to start hosting these since angel items often feel
a bit niche in style, or it doesn't feel usable for different styles/fashions
and I wanted to encourage people to try challenging that mindset.
(if anyone wants/is hosting a contest version of this, lmk!)

this month's angel item:

Sowing Seeds
✩ [March 1 CSU (you can also post your thoughts about the item there

go ahead and post any (dream/builder) avis using the item, but!
out of the box this item seems to fit [casual, plant/nature, gender neutral], so here are some
optional item/pose specific challenges:

use the leg mods
- squatting on things you shouldn't be (chairs, tables, near dead bodies etc)
- posing (optionally moodily) for a boy band album cover
- striking some kind of dance pose (?)
show off the heart island in the background pose ; extra challenge if you can do so without it being a scenic (prob insanely difficult)
a colorful hippy avi using the shirt
user suggested or requested challenges go here
- low hanging fruit: plant/nature mages/witches (bloodwitch)
- earth day type/themed avis seems fun, and seems maybe intended? (bloodwitch)

Bewere cuts is just plant from hands with The Surgeon

the first pose has a trimming effect, 1 px border around the edge so that bigger backgrounds don't stick out the sides, but potentially useful for combining backgrounds by different artists to make edges align. Midground cutting can hide the planet, though midground cutters are limited (mostly arms) it can be combined with Ghosting Behind type invisibility.

mini-tutorials courtesy of aemperatrix:

to grab the link to an avatar that has been saved to a favorites collection:

1. select the avatar and click on it—this will bring up a modal window

2. go down to the 'share' link section and click; make sure your cursor is on the line

3. right click + click "select all"

4. right click again + copy or (on windows) ctrl+c

to grab the image itself:

1. simply right click on the image + select "copy link address"

2. voila

to grab the image itself (mobile, Android edition):

1. tap the favorite
2. long press the image
3. select open image in new tab

4. copy the image link from the address bar of the new tab

Somehow I immediately went to, "we must squat on a desk/table -> chair --- OH! MUST BE TERRIFIED OF A MOUSE/RAT!!"
and then, ya know, a witch hat bc I'm biased ;) ((punkish theme bc I'm also biased towards that xD))
struggled a bit (a lot) bc tbh I don't use arm mods that often so idk what my invo even has.
Furthermore, I have no bloody clue what kind of colour's scheme this might be.

okay if I didn't mis count that should be all the rsved posts needed + a spare

bbl to properly update should be all up to date. (Well, pending Aerdian making an official post in the CSU redface )

I'm a bit tapped out on creative challenge ideas for the arm and purse, so if anyone has suggestions they are waaaay more than welcome and greatly appreciated.

edit2: pls also let me know if there are any typos/errors. I continue to slog and suffer as a mobile only user, and while I 10000% have butterfingers, autocorrect likes to constantly betray me too sweatdrop

Hello again, thank you for running this again!

I immediately saw this hair and knew it would look good with barbaric beautician. Even with the hat off it looks peak.

I had to figure out how to make a scenic with this background item. I just had to. I could not resist. I love scenics and yeah...
i really hope they make a paw version of this. this background would work so well with a little mini-link on it.

don't really have anything to say about this one other than i really like the vibe this one has going for it.

i may have been a little inspired by this item...maybe...

personally none of these are sparking too much play/creative interest for me, but I do also feel like I I could whip up avis for each of them

I am thrillllled you did a fisherman/person avi with the legs though, cause I had a mild thought when I first (sleepily) saw the pose, that they looked a bit like waders, and the boots slick (aka maybe waterproof).

when i first saw it, i had really hoped that the dirt spot/plant was an individual pose. I'm so sad it's actually part of the hair. i'm hoping someone makes a usermade out of it at some point. i would love to work with it on individual hairs.
as for the horn, when i tried it, i fell in love. it works so well. when/if they do recolors for sowing seeds, i want to try to make a little oni army with the combo lol

i'm just sad that it layers over a lot of other poses that could have been cute layered on top. For instance, mori moss agate's "Moss on a Log" would have been adorable on top, but alas.
i needed something to make the dragon look like they were resting and added a bit more color or i would have kept the heart island. it was such a cute little addition that i'm so happy about

I just thought the pants would suit my OC, Clara. The crouching pose is just so sleazy and casual! It was interesting trying different jacket combos with this item, some of them chopped off the left knee entirely. Ideally I wish there was a pose with her hands just like resting on her knees
