User ImageFormula 1: Runway Vouchers

For 5000 plat and a Sealed Angel Item you can craft 13 Runway Vouchers!

We didn't see any new alchemy formulas show up the most recent Black Friday (which I personaly do enjoy playing around with) - and it has seemed like Alchemy has been pretty dead in the water so this is a nice surprise!

Will you consider using this?

Do you think Gaia should revive Alchemy more?
(I'd like to imagine if the items released were worthwhile it could increase site engagement)

What formula would you create/invent?

I think it's beneficial if you already Angel subscribe but I really wish they would make more craftable items for people that can't pay money to the site.

Maybe a way to craft Sealed Angel Items, even if it's with a lengthy show of loyalty, like 5 or 10 Mystery Grab Bags, those items you get after cashing 7 Daily Gifts that restart every Monday.

RuneScape does a lot of good ways to convert loyalty into "member-exclusive" content, even to this day.

It's...a start, but there should be an alternative formula for those who cannot pay money to Gaia.  confused

I would consider using this if the formula used already established ingredients like those from the Philosopher's Cache or ingredients that would need to be crafted, such as soul crystals or a hero's heart.

I know I have numerous caches sitting in my inventory, but I can't do much with them because the current formulas require items dropped from rigs or previous defunct events like Valentine's Day 2k19.

Perhaps a way to craft the Seal Angel Items as 9soulz previously mentioned.

Sealed Angel Items sell for about 30k-40k in the mp.
That's 45k for 13 runway vouchers. Each voucher sells for about 25k. 👀

I like Alchemy exclusive recolors. Like they used to do with CI commons.
They should make some from common Daily Chance drops. There's only so many Beyond browns and Juno's laces that you need. sweatdrop

I don't understand why paying money to Gaia would be required at all. confused

Right now we're at the end of the month so the Sealed Angel Items are a little more scarce. However, after the beginning of the month, we usually see more listings in the Marketplace; if you're not trying to acquire it at the "this just came out and I need this right now" price, you can usually get Sealed Angel Item boxes, and the Angel Item itself, for 30-50k, which is a steal compared to other new similarly priced (650GC) items.

You'd be paying a lot more between Alchemy ingredients and crafting costs if Gaia created a method to craft a Sealed Angel Item box (note: unlikely; the boxes themselves are intended just for Angel Supporters who can then sell, hoard, or gift/trade them as they desire).

On the opposite side of that same coin, the Runway Vouchers themselves are also obtainable via the Marketplace, so they're not just available to those who spend money or have won any of the Runway contests. The current lowest buy price is 25k, which is within the average value range of 50GC (the entry fee for the Runway contest). So, you can spend 25k*13 (325k) to buy them individually from another Gaian, or presently craft them at a larger initial investment (ex: you spend ~60k between the Sealed Angel Item and crafting costs) that comes out to about 5k/voucher.

Unfortunately, people already farm things like Mystery Grab Bags and Chirpette Bundles (which are gotten via consistent voting in Runway) on multiple accounts - this is a violation known as Mule Abuse which is not allowed as it gives those people an unfair advantage by just doing "easy" dailies to acquire gold/items. We don't have the bandwidth to task someone to investigate just these matters (that's what it would take to start even making a dent), and don't want to encourage further abuse. While some users don't do this and acquire these things, it's a good example of how acts of greed prevent us from offering opportunities to our more considerate Gaians. That said, I can't foresee opening up Sealed Angel Items to Alchemy, as it's intended to be a reward for Angel Supporters, so I'm speaking more broadly about the suggestion, instead.

However, if you're very active on Gaia and already engaged in activity where you're earning these Mystery Grab bags, Chirpette bundles, etc., you're earning platinum. Like I said above, the Sealed Angel Item boxes and Angel Items themselves aren't outrageously priced (outside of around the first of the month due to new item hype), and are generally listed within a price range that is very accessible to the average active user (30-50k). Single Runway Vouchers are usually obtainable for around 25-35k, or can now be crafted in small bulk for a slightly larger initial investment.

Girl-Crazy Vampire

typically i dont use alchemy on gaia but this is actually really useful for me eek i use the angel sub to get bonus gc when i top up but generally i only like about 4 angel items a year so i always have a few spare angel boxes. nice to have this so that i can get a ton of runway vouchers all at once- i dont like stalking the mp for em. someone else in the thread mentioned the possibility of alchemy with mystery grab bags- id love that too. i have almost 100 grab bags i literally never use them sweatdrop

Mystery Grab Bags were just an example. I really emphasize that RuneScape's model is very favorable. I'm no virtual economist so I can't explain how it works, but I am the "end user" of such economy and do think it's very favorable.

Well, ever since Runway vouchers were released late last year, I've suspected that Gaia is focusing on the profits. This time, by giving more incentive for folks to subscribe for the angel subscription via another feature that has been neglected, alchemy.

While the vouchers did ultimately tackle the bot entry issue, a lot of users who cannot pay are unable to enjoy the gcash theme of the runway where previously users were guaranteed a free entry per week. Not a lot of folks can afford to purchase the vouchers from either the gcash shop or the marketplace's ever fluctuating pricing, so it shrunk the participation pool considerably as a result.

In my personal opinion, the paywall also drained the enjoyment of the runway feature.

As you've mentioned before, greed prevents opportunities for more considerate Gaians. If the greedier users haven't already attempted to use their mules to enter the runway to win/farm the prizes, I imagine that they will try to do this.

This is great news! I probably won't do it (no particular reason), but I'm always going to be on the side of "give people more ways to acquire stuff" as well as "keep updating older site features so that they stay relevant"

I always liked GoFusion more than I liked Alchemy, I was thinking about it a few days ago that I keep getting more charms from dailies and stuff but the craftable items haven't changed in years. I also like the idea of updating alchemy with more recipes that use daily chance grants. Both could use some updates although I'm not holding my breath for either (more than we just got with the voucher recipe)

If you already have one and you're not interested in the months item that's a really good way to use it. On the surface it seems like a high cost, but with the context of how much they go for the the marketplace? That's not bad AT ALL.

we need more formulas to utilize unwanted items in this manner, could help bring value back to items in some cases. so many items are released and worthless now.

i don't use alchemy nor do i really partake in runway, but i think this is a great addition to the site.
as some have mentioned, there's definitely the downside of needing a sealed angel item, whether through the angel subscription or spending gold in the mp. however, i do think it's a fair compromise because:
    1. sealed angel item boxes are relatively attainable / affordable
    2. it's essentially a "free-to-play" method to be more inclusive of those who can't pay or don't want to pay

just as it is with any other game in this day and age, nothing given for free is going to be as easy as a click of a button.
adding this option gives gaia a source of income, allows users to put angel boxes to use that would otherwise gather dust, and helps build activity on the site (especially for "free-to-play" gaians who would rather not spend on the site--they can spend gold, which is free to attain by posting, voting, playing kindred, etc).

i think, it's not an outrageous price and plus, if users win the runway prize, it pays for itself.

so during the cheapest its like 30(ish) kp for 13 vouchers? not bad

Time is also considered currency, which may not be possible in this day and age where Gaians who have been on this website since their teens have grown up and have other obligations. Not everyone has the time to poke around the website to earn or farm the plat/gold.

I would rather save up for something on my wishlist that I can use to spruce up my avatar than spend it on sealed angel items to exchange for a bunch of runway vouchers that are spent and done once used. Participating in runway does not guarantee a win either, so in a way, it's a gamble.

This isn't the "free to pay" option you may believe it is.  confused

I *really* like this idea, I love having another option to get runway tickets

it's super accessible via marketplace or the lowest cost entry point on Gaia, 5$ which is awesome

only downside I could think of is maybe a flux in marketplace pricing due to the added option, but I mean, when is the marketplace not in flux
