The great necromancer Marron the Harbringer arrives in the great port of Gelanthos. Cat-calls, boos and hisses accompany his procession to the center square of the great city, his black carriage dotted with rotten fruits and vegetables.
Upon reachign the square, the necromancer leaps out of the carriage and vaults onto the fountain standing there.
All eyes are upon the odd magic-user, waiting for what he is to say, their missles ready, yet reluctantly held.
Marron beamed brightly "I seek one who wishes to become my pupil! To learn my ways!"

And thus it begins.

Jessi-Lee113
Name:Jessi-lee113: Anya Vail
Age:20
Race: Human (as far as anyone knows)
Sex:female
Brief Bio: Anya is the owner of a spell book shop on the edge of town. She was found washed up on shore a few years back barely alive with a nasty head injury. She doesn't remember anything beyond waking up in the town apothecary's home days after she was found. The kind old man brought her back to health and helped her to get on her feet. In the years she's live in Gelanthos she has started her shop and paid the apothecary back for the help he gave her. But Anya found that very few people trusted her and most of her business was from sailors traveling from port to port. For reasons unknown to herself she is very attuned to natural magic and easily wields both light and dark energies, and though she is happy with her life as shop owner she feels she is meant for more.
Extraneous Info: Anya is rather proud of the way she looks and like to show off her body, though not in a flaunting or arrogant manner. She loves fruit but is not particularly fond of vegetables. She is a kind girl but not really out going she tends to stick to herself. She's smart and an outstandingly quick learner, which is really why she feels she is meant to pursue a life beyond being a shop keeper.

[[I'm just going to reply to your opening post, if this isn't ok I'll delete it. Just let me know]]

The crowd who had gathered around to gawk and glare at Marron froze, some even so stunned that they dropped their fruit which was ready to launch. After a few moments a mummer rose over the on lookers. "Who would want to be like you?" A few spat, followed by many similar shouts or jeers of "Let the damned art die." or "How dare you wish your dark life on others?" As the shouts and foolish talk continued one young woman stepped through the crowds. She was pale with gray eyes and very long dark hair that swayed behind her as she weaved through the crowd. Her scant gown marked her as out of the ordinary, and she carried an ebony wand shaped like a sharpened blade at her side and didn't join in the crowds disgust of Marron. It was Anya the seller of sell books and magical items, she was a common sight in the town though many had dubbed her a witch and she was not to be trifled with. She was not really hated, nor was she mistreated on great occasion, she was just to be avoided if possible. She made her way through the crowd and stopped at the front of it standing only steps away from the fountain.
"I humbly request to fill the role." She said in response to Marron's announcement her voice like velvet in the hostile air. "I would like to be your pupil."
The crowd began to buzz again. Some surprised because they had never thought Anya to truly be the witch others claimed she was, others going on about how they knew the girl who mysteriously washed up on shore was a bad seed. Anya paid them no mind, she had never really cared what others thought of her.

Marron's hood was thrown back, revealing a boyish face, though tinged grey, had a jovial and mischevious quality to it. His grey eyes, like that of storm clouds, twinkled with a light unable to be placed, though it gave the impression of knowledge unbound. Short cropped grey hair, somewhat unruly, topped his head, covering his ears and stretching down to the base of his neck.
"You will?" he asked, almost as shocked as those gathered about the square. He smiled widely, his perfect white teeth showing in the sunlight.
Even though his face seemed welcoming and freindly, the rest of him was not so welcoming.
Dark robes, blue, silver and black, swathed him, fluttering slightly in the breeze, while a pair of leggings tooled of grey cotton covered his legs. Hob-nailed boots, odd wear for a magic-user, scraped agaisnt the fountain's stone edge as he slide down and off of it. Atop his shoulders, twin pauldrons covered in spikes protected him from some of the more well-aimed objects that were thrown.
He stood in front of Anya, nearly a head taller than her, inspecting her. He ignored the jibbs that came from the crowd, though he didn't fail to notics that they'd pulled back from Anya as he'd approached her.
A small smile creased his face "What makes you think you can learn my art?" he asked, the light in his eyes becoming challenging.

Anya blinked at the question asked of her. She took steady breaths as she thought, her supple breast rising and falling beneath her tight corseted gown. After a moment of emotionless silence the calm girl smiled, almost grinning. "One such as yourself should be able to sense it, can you not?" He voice was sly as she spoke. "Just being in the same town I can feel the masterful way you are able to hold magic and bend it to your will, it radiates in an aura around you as if warning that you are not to be trifled with." She looked at him with her icy blue-white eyes that looked almost translucent if looked directly into. "I am no where near your level Sir but surely you can feel my natural abilities."

Marron was silent for a moment or two, examining Anya again. He smiled, his eyes lingering on her assests and then moving once more up and down her frame.
"True, I can feel you ability" he said, stepping forward and lifting her chin and looking her straight in the eyes. He leans closer, his grew eyes seeming to grow larger and become much like a cat's. The slits were slivers, but white instead of black.
He nodded, letting go of her chin, and stepping back, his brilliant smile once more blinding a few onlookers "You're acceptable, though I assure you..." he said, before glancing at the crowd still standing about, most of them watchign him with a wary eye. A few shuffled with either fear of discomfort when his gaze passed over them.
"...it will be difficult, and your life will be subject to my whims" he finished, his tone no longer light and jovial, but grim and serious, though his face was still bright with the charasmatic smile of before.
He motioned to his carriage, drawn by two massive warhorses, or the skeletons of them "Ladies first" he crooned, pulling his hood over his head once more. The door swung open.
The plush interior, crimision as blood was, was dark and cool, and not unwelcoming. A decanter of wine sat on a tray set in the opposite door, a pair of wine glasses standing next to it. It was the same color as the velvet seats and curtains. Marron obvioulsy liked the color of blood.
"Watch your step" Marron proffered his hand to Anya, acting the part of the gentleman.

Anya looked strongly into his eyes, unphased by their odd appearance or his closeness to her. Upon being accepted her sly smirking smile brightening to actual happiness for the first time in a very long while. She bowed to him. "I thank you Sir." She said as she straightened. "Please give me a brief moment." She said turning and moving toward an older man in the crowd, one of the few who had nit shied away from her. "Thank you for all you have done for me." She told the apothecary taking a from her neck and giving him the key to her magic store. "Please lock up and look after my shop for me won't you?" The man nodded with a nostalgic smile, he rarely spoke to anyone as he had a very weak throat. Anya smiled at lightly kissed his cheek thanking him once more and placing the key in his hand. She then turned around and lightly took Marron's hand slipping into his carriage sitting daintily on one of the crimson seats, holding her ebony wand closely to her side. She then looked to Marron as he followed her in. "So what whims shall I be subject to?"

Marron smiled at ANya, waving his hand. The door shut with a dull thud, and the carriage began to move with a lurch, nearly unseating the decanter of wine. Marron's hand grasped it about the neck and steadied it, pouring two glasses of wine for his new pupil and himself.
"I have decided to make it a rule to ask what those who submit themselves to me wish, or want" he said, sipping on the wine. It was an excellent vintage, taken from the cellars of a noble who'd crossed the necromancer in his foolishness. Revenge never tasted this sweet.
"So I ask you, Anya, what is it that you want? What do you expect of me?" he asked, swirling his wine carefully, watchign her with as much care.
He'd watched her give the old man the key, and he was slightly intrigued. He pushed it to the back of his mind for later deliberation.
The carriage lurched again and one of the heavy curtains swung away from the window, revealing the mass of people were once again pelting the carriage. This time, it was with things far more unpleasent than rotten fruit and vegetables. Yet they could not be heard, and the curtain fell back into place, hiding the world outside of the carriage once more. Marron seemed to not have noticed, his attentions completely focused on his new pupil.

Anya took the wine from him but did not drink, she held it elegantly in her hands and swished it as was accustomed, but she was not much for alcohol and decided not to drink it to fast as she may lose her head. She took a breath and wet her lips with her tongue. "Truthfully..." She began closing her eyes as if embarrassed by her answer. "I'm not quite sure." She said opening the icy eyes and looking at him, surprisingly warm given their appearance. "I don't remember anything about who I am or where I come from. As far as I know I've only just begun to exist four years ago in the port town. But I do know a great deal about magic, I began reading spell books and found I had already mastered many of the spells though I have no knowledge of ever learning them." She swallowed, her free hand unconsciously going to the slight rise in the back of her head where she had been injured. "I believe that with my magical skills I must be meant to do something more than run a shop in a busy town, even if it is a magic shop." She shifted her gaze to look more closely at Marron. "But this must sound silly to one such as yourself."

Marron smiled brilliantly "Why would you? Sound silly that is?" he asked, leanign forward to pat her on the knee comfortingly.
"My dear, you are among accepting company here! Imagine the thought of me, a necromancer, who is shunned by nearly all, thinking another like myself a foolish little girl!" he laughed, the sound a deep bass rumble, something unexpected from one thought to be grim and dark "I would not think so!"
He leaned back into the seat, crossing one leg over the other and leaning his head on one arm, sipping his wine slowly "I am intrigued though, very much so" he said, a sly smile taking the place of his benevolent one.
"What do you know?" he asked, his eyes hungry as he watched her every move.

Anya shivered as he touched her knee, she straightened and almost jumped startled by the touch of another, people rarely touched her. She began to breath more heavily as his eyes stayed on her. "Want to know more about what? Me or my abilities?" Her voice quivered as she spoke, strange for such a strongly willed woman.

Marron's hungry gaze abbated "Are you alright my dear? You seem to have grown anxious..." he said, takign note of the rise and fall of her breast. He shivered slightly, almost unnoticbly, at the sight.
Gods, how many years had it been? Ten? Twenty? One hundred? He could remember. And here was a woman that was appealing, strong in magic, though she may not know it, and his. His.
"Drink Anya, it will settle your nerves" he said, motioning to her glass, nearly untouched as it was in her hand "I would know what you know about magic, but first you must be calm and in control" he said, smiling at her, almost fondly.

Anya blushed as he spoke to her and took a deep breath to calm herself, sipping her wine. She looked at him and steadied her posture. "I'm Anya Vail, at least that's what they called me. I have learned every spell in my books, but I would say that I'm better attuned to light and dark magics. Dark slightly more than light, but both much more so than elemental magic." She swallowed still a bit uneasy.

The necromancer nodded "Perfect, you will be able to handle the art of necromancy with ease, or at least in the beginning you will" he said, waving his hand dismissively, brushing away the wordsas if they meant little.
He refilled his glass, watchign the crimsion liquid swirl into the bottom as he spoke "Anya, another question for you my dear, and then you are free to ask of me what you will" he said, smilign at her from beneath his hood.
"Why did you step forward when no other person would give me the time of day?" he asked, slowly, watchign her face, her neck, her breast, and her hands carefully. How she answered might make her path easier, or harder. Even Marron could not tell which.

PostPosted: Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:45 pm
Anya looked at him. "Why I approached you?" She repeated the question thinking on it for a moment. "You don't frighten me." She answered. "Nor does the art of necromancy." She finished her wine, choking slightly on the last drink. She put a hand to her lips as she breast shuddered and her eyes watered. "E-excuse me." She said patting the space between her throat and chest.

Marron blinked, his hands steady even though he could feel a part of him quiver with excitement. He nodded, handing her a handkercheif "I think you are a brave one, smart too, but do you think it wise to learn an art forbidden by nearly all?" he asked. He sipped his wine, waiting for her to answer after she had cleared her throat.
