A girl that nobody knows tries to assassinate the king for no apparent reason while his son is away. She does not fight when captured and seems to not have actually wanted to hurt the king but is compelled to. Everyone including the king question her and all she will say is she had to do it. The king doesn't really want to punish her but is not sure if he can release her without her attempting to do so again. Little do they know is that a man is controlling her through holding her brother hostage. When the son returns, the king asks him about the girl and puts him in charge of her.

User Image Do it, or I kill your brother. Those words echoed in Risa's mind as she snuck into the castle. She was a small woman, only 5'3" and able to easily get through crowds. She was starting to wonder if that is why the man decided to kidnap her little brother to force her to do this awful crime. Their parents had died years ago and she was now the only one who was taking care of her little brother Anthony. She couldn't let anything happen to him, and when the man kidnapped Anthony and said kill the king to get him back, she was at a lost. She didn't want to kill the king to save her brother, but she was desperate, and if she failed and was caught, she couldn't say anything or he would kill Anthony right away.

Sneaking in was the easy part, as a party was happening at the castle that day and people were going in and out all day. It took her a while to find the King, but she lucked out and found him alone in the study, looking at some papers. She slipped behind a bookcase, then quickly before she lost her nerve, said, "I'm sorry," before plunging the knife towards the King. The king, having heard he apology, had been given enough time to move and catch her, easily restraining her as he was much stronger than she was. She struggled for a bit, but eventually gave up, allowing the king to call his gaurds, who arrested her, and took her down into the dungeon to await questioning.

TIME SKIP

Risa remained silent as they questioned her, asking why she tried to take her kings life. The king himself came a few times, asking her why, and he was especially curious as to why she apologized to him before the attempt, which was what saved his life. She was a quick one, and with the proper training, probably could have made an excellent body gaurd. The king asked again, and all Risa would say to him was "I'm sorry," which was more than she said to even the gaurds. Risa was so afraid of saying too much and risking Anthony's life. It was a chance she could not take, and even if they killed her for her crime, at least then Anthony may be safe. Her life didn't matter. She just hoped the man who hired her didn't kill Anthony for her failure. She didn't know and wished she was free enough to check and make sure her brother was alive. Even if they would grant her that wish, which of course they wouldn't, she couldn't ask because it would have been giving away too much information and that would risk Anthony's life. So Risa stayed in her cell, quiet and lonely, praying that her brother was safe.

Meanwhile, the king was frustrated. This unknown girl who no one recognizes tried to kill him, but he didn't get the feeling that she wanted him dead. In fact, quite the opposite as she apologized before her attempt and apologized after. Which made him think that perhaps she was being controlled by something. He saw the fear in her eyes, but she didn't seem to be afraid for herself. What was making her stay silent? What made her attack him? He didn't think she was a bad person, and wanted to let her go. She had only managed to scratch him a little, and he was fine. But he couldn't say whether she would do it again. He would have to have a talk with his son, see what he thought. Maybe put his son in charge of the girl. He hadn't had much interest in the ladies lately, and this mysterious girl was quite pretty. Perhaps he could charm her into talking. The king smiled, liking the idea.

Trion felt the smile creep onto his face as Vantioc came into view in the distance. Oh how he loved the sight of his home city, large cobblestone walls reaching up toward the sky as if promising to catch it in it's massive grip. Towers shot up at the four corners of the city that could show a view of at least twenty miles in nearly every direction.

The most dominant sight though on the city was the towering marble caslte that stood in the center. Trion smiled as he remembered home and patted the neck of his horse. "Just a little bit further buddy." He said with a smile, starting to ride once more, this time thought at a slightly faster pace. "My Prince, you father shall be happy with the negotiations." A knight, Sir Lyons said to him as he rode by his side. "I am sure he will Lyons, but he would not have sent me were the trade agreements not already set in stone. He just wants to introduce me to the public it seems."

At a ripe twenty-one years of age, Trion was a budding prince. He was wall, handsome, and very intelligent. His father had prepared him for as long as he knew to be a King. He was a king prince, and rarely did not have a smile on his face. Though sometimes he was frustrated with how his father babied him. Rarely was he allowed to do anything that would push the limits of his abilities. Little did he knew he would be put to the test very soon.

Riding through the gates a few horns went off, and people rushed to the side of the rode to watch him ride. He waved to a few people, blew kisses to the women who looked upon him desperately wishing to be acknowledged. If there is one thing that Trion was good at, it was flirting with the women. He believed that no matter what she looked like, there was something beautiful in every single woman out there. He always felt if the women of the country were happy, then the men would be as well.

((Time Skip))

"Father....how did you allow this to happen?" Trion asked his father after just having heard the news about the attempted assassination. "Son she was not very good to be honest, though she did pick a prime time to attempt it. I am lucky she clearly was having a tough time with this." "What do you mean?" His father then explained that she was hesitant, and seemed apologetic as well. "I want you to work on her, try to get her to talk. Use those princely good looks of yours I so generously gave you." Trion rolled his eyes and walked out of his fathers office, which now had guards patrolling it.

He soon made his way down to where the girl was being kept. She was in a room, with light coming through slit windows from the tower that they sometimes used to house special prisoners. It was more like a room, not really a prison cell as much. Though she had constant surveillance from guards who would check the room on frequent occasions. Trion opened the door when they let him in, and looked around the room. There were candles, a reading chair, table with a stool to eat food, and a small bed on one side. He looked at the young woman and put on a smile.

He had to do this job, because this was the first real test his father gave him. He would flirt with this girl in an attempt to get her to talk, though he would take his silly time doing it. "Good afternoon." He said carrying over the food that would serve as her lunch. "I hope you like soup, because that was all the cook was serving up today." He said with a soothing, calm manner.

User Image Risa was sitting on the bed when the stranger came in. She didn't know who he was but she assumed that he was here to make her talk. He was handsome and friendly, but that made her uncomfortable, as she didn't know how to deal with men, having no experience with them. She knew this mad was dangerous to her, but she didn't understand why. She needed to find a way to not talk to him, as Anthony's life depended on it. He asked whether she liked soup or not and she just nodded. She scooted farther back against the bed, avoiding him as much as possible. He placed the food on the table, but she stayed put.

Risa took a deep breath, steeling herself for what ever was to come her way. She closed her eyes, as this handsome man was very distracting, and she had kept finding her eyes drifting over him, studying him, judging and finding pleasing. She thought of Anthony, how he loved to play in the yard and would toss a ball around for hours at a time. He would always beg her to play catch with him and the thought made her smile to herself. But then she remembered that she may never see him again, and wished she had played with him more often, as many times she had been too busy to play, having to work and take care of him because they did not have any parents. A single tear ran down her face, and she quickly wiped it away, opening her eyes. It was going to be dangerous no matter what she did it seemed.

She shifted, pulling her legs up to her and leaning down on her legs. She didn't know how long the handsome guy was going to stay, and she needed some kind of defense. But she couldn't think of anything, and so just stared at her feet, and started counting from 1 to however high it took for him to leave. She just hoped she could ignore him as he spoke, as he had a voice that just called to her.

Trion could tell she was afraid, and not sure who she could trust. Trion completely understood her hesitation, for he would be in much the same boat were he in her place. She attempted to murder the King, and now there was a strange man in the room talking to her in a kind manner. She clearly could tell something was up, but Trion was not going to let down off this case any easier.

He ran his hand through his long silver hair. Green orbs looking at her from across the room. "No need to be afraid." He said in a kind voice, walking to the opposite side of the room and sitting in the reading chair. "I will sit here if you wish to get your food, you must be very hungry. I promise I will not move." He wanted her to eat, because it would make her feel more comfortable, and that was a key for getting her to talk.

She was an attractive young woman he would give her that. She looked out of place though, despite the fact she was in a prison of course. He did not think she was someone of a noble group, though for all he knew eh could be entirely wrong on that part. For all he knew she could be a princess in a foreign country.

"What is your name." He asked in a friendly smile, hoping she would at least give him that.

User Image Risa watched him carefully as he moved about the food. She knew that he was wrong about not needing to be afraid, but he was right about her being hungry. She had tried to murder the King, so she knew their was plenty of reason to be afraid. She could be killed at the whim of any of these men, and she knew this man before her was especially dangerous. But her stomach was starting to hurt, and she was really hungry, so when he moved to the opposite of the room, she cautiously approached the table and sat down, keeping her eyes on him the entire time.

She ate for a while, and noticed that the soup was good. In fact, all of the food that they had given her had been excellent. If she didn't know this was a prison room, she'd feel like they were kind of treating her like a guest. Already they were being nice about not throwing her in the dungeon, but maybe that was because they wanted information out of her and was trying to make it more comfortable for her so she would be more likely to talk. Personally, she wouldn't have minded telling them the little bit of information she knew, but she couldn't risk Anthony's life.

They all seemed to want her to talk, even if it was just simple things. Her silence seemed to bother them all, especially the longer she went with talking as little as possible. She didn't even talk to the different gaurds. Usually she just sat on the bed, waiting, for who knows what. She didn't ask for anything, she didn't plead for her life. She just sat there, silent. But the silence was starting to get to her as well, so when he asked for her name, she whispered, "Risa." She wanted to ask what his name was and who he was, but she couldn't make herself talk.

Trion could still tell she was very afraid, and seemed to be rather untrusting of him. He could not blame her, for in were in he her place he would question his presence just as much as she apparently was. Though as much as his intentions were to get out of her why she had attempted to kill his father, he had no intention of killer her, or harming her for that matter. According to his father she seemed to be under the control of someone, or so it seemed. He elected to give her the benefit of the doubt for the moment.

He leaned forward in his chair and watcher her eye him with suspicion. He did nothing but smile to her as she ate. He envisioned that due to the food she was eating she was bound to be under heavy suspicion, though still at the same time fighting to trust him as well. Occasionally this jailing method had done them some good when it came to creating results. And this was exactly what Trion was hoping to accomplish.

"Risa, what a lovely name." He said in a kind, honest voice. He did not mean in with any other indication other than a compliment, he really did believe it to be as such. "My name is Trion." He said introducing himself. "You will likely be seeing a lot of me. I am here to help you, and be your friend in this time of need." He had no idea why he was taking this method, but it was something he simply felt he needed to do. He could see the innocence in the girls eyes, and if she really was an assassin she likely would have succeeded in her goal.

User Image Risa finished the food quickly, as she listened to him speak, still not sure what to do, but at his comment that he was there to help her, she jumped up, wild eyed. "GO AWAY! You can't help me! You can only make things worse. Please go away." she said moved back over to the bed, trying to get her emotions under control. She knew that she had said to much as it is, and was determined to not say another word. She was on the brink of tears, the stress of imprisonment finally becoming too much for her to handle. She crawled into the bed, moving as far away as she could, as he had not left yet. She buried her face in the pillow, so he could not see, and let the silent tears fall. She didn't have the energy to deal with people anymore. She just wanted them to all go away.

Risa focused on keeping her body still, as she didn't want him to know she was crying. She hoped that he would listen to her and leave. She had no intention of continuing there conversation, and decided to just ignore anything else he said. She started humming to herself, as she tried to calm herself and stop crying. She hummed softly, she didn't even know what tune, and didn't even know if he could hear her. She would just hum to herself until her left, because it was the only way she could think to protect Anthony.

Trion was not sure how to react to her sudden outburst. He was not shocked by it to be honest, just not quite sure that he was expecting her to react in such a manner so early on. He obviously was not use to handling prisoners in the first place. This girl did not seem experienced in the situation, because of how frightened and rather....rash she was reacting in the various situations that were being offered.

He watched her as she lied on the bed, and seemed as if she was ready to burst. He did not quite know what to say, but he wanted to ay something to relax her a bit. He sat in the seat though, and listened to her hum a tune. The tune was something familiar to him, but he could not pinpoint it at all. "That is a beautiful tune." He said, not quite sure what else he could, or even wanted to say.

Soon a guard opened the door. "My Prince, the King would like you to attend dinner as soon as possible." Trion stood up and walked toward the door. "Get this girl anything she needs." He then turned to Risa, who was still on the bed. "Relax my friend, I will be back, but ask if you need anything."

He then left and headed his way down to dinner.

User Image Risa barely noticed his comment about the song being a beautiful tune. She had locked herself in her own little world to protect herself. She couldn't have herself talking and risking Anthony's life. She knew she had already said too much and wondered just how many spies the man who had hired her had. His life depended on her ability to control herself. But it was hard as this was a foriegn concept for her. She didn't want to kill the king but knew given the chance, she would have to again. They didn't even give her butter knives with dinner. Not that she blamed them, as she wouldn't in their place. The new man scared her though, she was attracted to him, while at the same time knew he was powerful. He seemed familiar, like someone from the past, but she couldn't remember. She had left these nobel circles when she was just a kid, as things fell to ruins when her parents died. She had moved away to try and find a way to make a living to support Anthony, and as kids it was hard. She was just glad she had been able to avoid prostitution so far.

Risa shifted, curling her arms around herself as she stared at the wall. He said she could ask for anything, but she didn't plan on taking him up on that offer. She just wanted to return to her brother, and knew that was probably something she would never get to do. She couldn't return to the man who had taken Anthony without succeeding, and she knew even if she got free, she'd never be able to kill the King. It just wasn't in her to do it. She just hoped Anthony was smart enough to escape or if he couldn't the man didn't make him do dangerous stuff like what he was making Risa do. Though in her heart, she knew that there was a good chance that Anthony was already dead. She started sobbing harder this time, and eventually cried herself to sleep.

Dinner with his father was quite uneventful. He asked Trion about his progress and he simply shrugged his shoulders. "I really have not made much progress, all i know is that her name I Risa. Other than that she screamed at me to leave and that was about it. She also hid in the bed and just kind of tried to pretend I was not there." He scractched his chin. "I think she may have some mental issues." He said.

The King shook his head. "She is fighting a battle inside of her. If she were a true assassin she would have found a way to kill herself by now. Were she a common criminal she would be staring you down and actually talking back. She seems a special case." The King stood and then as he exited the room he nodded to his son. "Keep on trying, she will come out eventually." He then left Trion to his own methods.

He went back up to the room, and listened to the door for a while. He then looked to the guard. "Keep me posted if there is any sound. If she asks for anything come and get me immediately." The Guard nodded to the prince and he soon.

Trion went to bed then, as the sun was completely hidden and the moon now peaked its head up over the mountains. Maybe a good nights rest would get her to talk a little bit more. He actually told the guards to bring her a feather mattress and pillow, so that hopefully she would be more comfortable and be willing to talk when he saw her again.

When he awoke the next morning he went down and had breakfast silently. Then he gathered what food he could and put together a nice meal. He wanted to test her will, and her determination, so this time he brought silverware, including a knife. He did not bring a weapon himself, for he thought he could overtake her if he must.

Going up to the room the guards let him in. "Be safe my prince." One guard said as Trion entered. He went to the table and placed down the food. He then went back and leaned against the wall. "Breakfast?" He asked in a kind voice.

User Image Risa was so confused when someone woke her up and gave her a more comfortable mattress and pillow arrived, and knew that the Trion was responsible. She still didn't trust him, knowing her wanted something out of her, but couldn't deny that the mattress was a much better improvement over the hard box spring that she had been sleeping on. She may as well enjoy it since it was there. She knew she would have to thank him the next time he showed up, and she knew there would be a next time. She groaned. She fell asleep quickly after that, an improvement over earlier that day when she had cried herself to sleep. But morning still came to early, and she was woken up by the sound of the key turning in the lock. She groaned when she Trion, burying her head under the soft pillows for a few moments.

But the smell of the food was too much to resist and she peaked out from underneath the pillow to see a really nice breakfast. Breakfast had always been her favorite meal, and she could see a variety of different things to choose from. Her stomach growled at the intended feast, but her eyes narrowed as she looked at him. This food was too good for a prisoner, and she knew it. He was still after something, and she figured it was the information on why she attacked the king that she couldn't tell him. But she wanted the food, and like the mattress, she figured she might as well enjoy it while she can as she could easily be thrown into the dungeon any day or even beheaded for treason.

Risa watched as Trion moved to the far corner of the wall, and slowly made her way to the food, watching him closely, ready to bolt wherever she could if he made a move towards her. She sat down at the desk and looked at the plate, realizing her had left her a knife as well to cut some of the meats. She picked it up and examined it for a minute, before setting it down and picking up the fork, taking a few bites before looking back up at him. The food was delicious. "Thank you, for the food and the mattress." Risa said, feeling like thanking him wasn't too dangerous as it didn't give him any information that would endanger Anthony. She slowly finished her food, using the knife as little as possible, and pushed it away when she finished. She moved back over to the bed again, and said, "Please leave."

Trion found himself becoming increasingly entertained by her actions. It was odd how her suspicions took such clear form as she watched him with careful eyes at all time. He could tell though that she was enjoying all of the lovely commodities that were being provided to her. He then walked from the wall to the chair as she was eating, watching her suspicion of the knife with relative care. She seemed to have some understanding as to why he placed it there, or either she was nervous he would think she meant to attack him with it. Because of this she seemed hesitant to even hold it that much while she ate.

He nodded to her as she thanked him for the food and mattress. He was relieved to see that she indeed had some sort of manners. Trion smiled to her as she walked to her bed, and wondered how he would get her to talk. She seemed to be very intelligent despite the fact she was clearly not an assassin, or an experienced one he should say. She picked and chose her words wisely, and was not given enough away to satisfy him, but not nearly little enough to get herself in trouble for not speaking.

Trion did laugh though when she had asked him to leave. He shook his head. "I am sorry my dear but I can't leave just yet." He said with a big smile, flashing his eyes at her for a moment. "It would not be polite for a host to leave his guest without a long pleasant conversation." he ran his hand through his long hair. "All I want is to get to know you Risa, please tell me more about yourself?" Trion tried to sound pleasant, and he doubted it was that difficult since he found this whole errand rather enjoyable for the current moment. He made sure to stay in the chair though, so as to not startle her with any sudden movements.

User Image Risa groaned as he said he was not leaving any time soon. It was going to be a long day. He had moved closer as well, now sitting in the chair she had vacated after eating. Risa shifted on the bed, to stay as far away from him as she could. She couldn't get over the feeling that he was dangerous to her, and that she needed to stay silent as much as possible. She was afraid that once she started talking, she wouldn't be able to stop, and would say too much that would cause Anthony to be killed. But she wanted the company, even of someone that made her so uncomfortable. She sighed, figuring she would just have to be careful what she said to him, as she couldn't let him have too much information. "I would rather you left and never returned."

Risa took a deep breath before she started after a few minutes of debate and the realization that he was not going to leave. "There isn't much interesting about me. I work two jobs, in a bakery during morning and afternoon, and a grocery store after that. Sometimes I do part time jobs as well, as I need the money to take care of..." She trailed off, realizing that she was saying too much. "I had some educations as a kid, though my parents died young and I've had to take care of myself for a long time, so I never did finish my schooling." That was one thing Risa regretted and when she had time, she would always sit and teach Anthony the little she knew. She would borrow books from the library and struggle through them, just so she could help Anthony with the work later. She had insisted that he continued with school, which was one of the reasons she had to work so hard, as schools charged so much.

Risa thought for a moment on what else she could say. "I am 22, not married. I don't really have time for hobbies, and yeah work is my life. Like I said, I'm pretty boring." She left out the recent details of her life, like the fact she was raising her younger brother and he was kidnapped by a man who ordered her to kill the King. If she mentioned any of that, Anthony would die. It wasn't like she really knew who had ordered her to kill the king in the first place, as he never told her his name, though she could describe him well enough. She would never forget the face of the man who threatened the crying Anthony at knife point until she agreed to try and assassinate the king.

Trion lifted his leg and rested it atop his other leg, crossing them in a way. Leaning back in the chair he smiled to her, chuckling at her comment about his wishing he would leave and never return. "I also myself wish I could fly, but we do not always get what we wish." He said then leaning back and listening to her.

For the situation she did seem relatively calm, and this was slightly pleasing to him. If she was comfortable, she would probably talk at least a little bit. He would try not to be too forward to quickly, but he would talk when he had the chance. Contrary to what she had begun with, he believed she indeed was an interesting individual.

"There seems to be plenty interesting about you my dear Risa." Trion said intertwining his fingers between themselves as he spoke. "You seem to have gone through a large amount of hardships. That makes you a very strong woman I must say. Working shows you have determination, and taking care of....your siblings I am assuming, you show maturity." he said with a smile, realizing she was trying to hide she had family. "Don't worry, we will not harm you family. Frankly we have no intentions of harming you, I just wish to know a few things that is all."

He stood up and slowly walked a bit closer, though keeping distance between himself and the bed. "Let me tell you about myself. I am Prince Trion, Prince here in Vantioc. You know my father.....The King." He said with smile, though not one of violence or hatred. "He seems curious about you, and so do I. I am a soldier, and diplomat, currently unmarried, twenty one years of age. I love competing in tournaments, having long walks on the beach, and meeting new people. I simply love to socialize."

He smiled to her. "Listen, I know you are hesitant to trust me. But I do not believe you are a real assassin. Something has clearly happened in your life and we want to figure out why. Should we get an answer satisfactory for us, you may leave, so long as you promise never to go near the King again."
